Job Description

Our client, a rapidly growing technology company based in Toronto, is looking for a Director of Finance. The Director of Finance will support the CFO by managing day-to-day accounting and finance operations across all regions. This role ensures accurate reporting, compliance, and financial discipline, while providing leadership to regional accountants and administrators. The Director will also serve as the bridge between local finance operations and the broader corporate finance strategy.

Main responsabilities

Manage all accounting transactions and ensure accurate financial reporting across Canada, USA, and Europe.

Oversee and standardize month-end close processes, checklists, templates, and consolidated financial statements.

Review reconciliations, journal entries, adjustments, and ensure efficient AP, AR, payroll, invoicing, and collections.

Produce accounting reports, conduct audits, maintain statutory records, and ensure compliance with US, Canadian, and European tax and accounting regulations.

Register for unemployment and state/provincial taxes for new employees as required.

Manage relationships with external auditors and accounting firms, coordinating annual audits and year-end filings.

Support the CFO with budgets, forecasts, cash flow reporting, financial analysis, and business insights for decision-making.

Identify financial risks and opportunities and drive automation and process improvements.

Oversee payroll operations in all regions, ensuring regulatory compliance, accurate processing, issue resolution, reporting, and coordination with HR and external providers.

Implement and enforce payroll policies and procedures aligned with company standards.

Supervise, develop, and support direct reports, including recruiting, compensation, performance management, training, and team-building.

Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

Bachelorโ€™s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Management Accountant (CMA) or equivalent professional certification is required.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 3 years in a senior financial leadership role.

Proven track record of success in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Strong understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and risk management both in Canada and the USA.

Able to think strategically and act as a business partner to the CFO and senior management team.

The ability to combine accounting expertise and business acumen with professional management and coaching skills.

The ability to maintain lasting relationships with all departments and key business partners.

Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required.

Proficient in financial software and reporting tools.

Excellent leadership, communication (oral and presentation), and interpersonal skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and negotiation skills.

Act in a strong, professional manner always maintaining the highest of ethical standards with company employees, customers and suppliers.
