Position Title: Boarding Counsellor THE CAMP RIDLEY DIFFERENCE Camp Ridley offers exceptional summer day and boarding camps for children and youth ages 4 to 17, welcoming both Canadian and international campers. Our programmes span art, science, athletics, leadership, and experiential learning, creating a summer filled with discovery, friendship, and fun—both inside and outside the classroom.

Our programmes intentionally support campers’ physical, creative, social, and interpersonal development in a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment.

All camps are hosted on Ridley College’s beautiful 90-acre campus in the heart of the Niagara Region, featuring world-class facilities and a vibrant campus community. Our boarding camps offer a unique opportunity for campers to experience boarding life in a safe, supportive, and welcoming setting.

This posting is for an existing full‑time summer vacancy. This is a live‑in position. On‑campus housing and meals are provided for the duration of the assignment.

OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION We are seeking Boarding Counsellors to support and supervise campers living in Ridley’s boarding houses during the summer. Boarding Counsellors play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging residential experience for campers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reside on campus and work scheduled overnight shifts within the boarding houses.

Supervise and support the wellbeing of boarding campers during free time, evenings, and weekends, actively engaging in residence life and programming.

Assist with the organization and supervision of evening, weekend, and off‑campus activities and excursions.

Monitor attendance, conduct nightly checks and spot checks, and supervise study periods as required.

Supervise meals in the dining hall and support daily residence routines.

Communicate regularly with the Boarding Life Supervisor regarding camper behaviour, concerns, and wellbeing.

Follow established protocols for behaviour management, safety, and emergency response, including medical situations and fire drills.

Support airport arrivals and departures for boarding campers as required.

Participate fully in all required training sessions and certifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

Post‑secondary education or equivalent experience.

Ability to engage positively and responsibly with children and youth in a boarding environment.

Strong communication skills and a team‑oriented mindset.

Energetic, enthusiastic, and reliable.

Experience in boarding life or residential camps is considered an asset.

A second language is considered an asset.

Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certification (training will be provided if required).
