MANAGER, ACCOUNTING AND FINANCIAL REPORTING (Permanent, Full-Time) Internal posting

The West Vancouver Financial and Corporate Services Division is accepting applications for a permanent full‑time Manager, Accounting and Financial Reporting.

Responsibilities

Managing a team to ensure that the accounting, financial analysis, and treasury functions, including proper accounting processes, procedures and controls, are performed;

Preparing the quarterly financial reports, annual financial statements, legislative reports, Annual Report and other financial reports and analysis as needed;

Overseeing the District’s accounting close process and annual external audit;

Ongoing development and management of the ERP system, financial reporting/BI tools and related software programs;

Overseeing the treasury function including cash, investment and debt management;

Reviewing and updating the Fees and Charges Bylaw;

Developing, implementing and overseeing work plans, financial policies and related processes and procedures;

Overseeing the accounting team and providing management direction to employees by planning, assigning and supervising work;

Providing advisory services on a wide range of financial issues to the organization;

Build and maintain effective relationships within the division and internal and external contacts;

Representing the Division in employee and labour relation matters; Participates in other duties and special projects as assigned.

Preferred Candidate Will Have

A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field; plus at least 8 years of relevant financial management experience and supervisory experience;

Professional designation, CPA or equivalent;

Knowledge of public sector accounting/financial reporting, municipal financial policies, relevant legislation, principles and practices governing the work;

Knowledge and experience in investment management;

Ability to analyze and exercise a considerable degree of sound, independent judgment in resolving problems related to area of expertise;

Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, in addition to excellent project management skills;

Sound knowledge of relevant computer applications and requirements.

The successful candidate is required to supply a criminal record check and a copy of their credentials.

Position Status Exempt – Permanent, Full-time

Hours Of Work 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)

Starting Rate Of Pay $127,800 – 143,700 per annum (2025 rate)
