The Corporate Sales & Structuring group is a team within Global Markets Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) responsible for originating and executing hedging and financing transactions for BMO’s corporate and commercial clients. Working closely with investment, corporate, and commercial banking, the team serves as product experts with a coverage universe including foreign exchange, interest rate and equity derivatives, structured finance, equity linked securities and commodities.
BMO Capital Markets is seeking a highly motivated and experienced VP or Director to join the Corporate Sales & Structuring team, focusing on distribution of foreign exchange derivative solutions within the Canadian universe of corporate clients. This individual will play a key role in driving client engagement and revenue generation through the delivery of customized foreign exchange derivative solutions to corporate clients. The ideal candidate is a proven salesperson with deep expertise in global markets, a strong analytical foundation, and a relentless drive to win business and build relationships.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing key corporate client relationships, including day-to-day pitching and execution across all foreign exchange products. You will need to be comfortable speaking to corporate finance rationale behind hedging strategies as well as the technical details underlying the various products to effectively work with mid to large cap corporations across multiple sectors. Additionally, you will need to incorporate a collaborative approach, working closely with investment & corporate banking, trading, structuring, credit & risk management, research and back office to provide comprehensive coverage and efficiently deploy the bank’s resources. Familiarity and experience in interest rate products and strategies is also beneficial. Location: Calgary, Alberta.
Key Areas of Accountability
Origination and Negotiation
Lead pitching activities with contacts at corporate clients, including senior executives
Effectively and compellingly market BMO’s capabilities in foreign exchange products and solutions
Develop value‑add trade ideas that apply economic, political, and market trends
Conceptualize and deploy creative solutions for client risk management problems
Assist in the negotiation of key derivative legal documentation
Enhancing Client Relationships
Partner with Investment & Corporate Banking to support client relationships and business development
Expand on the CSS client coverage map where there are blind spots and enhance relationships where one already exists
Engage in frequent, thoughtful touchpoints with key client relationships to build trust and demonstrate value
Go above and beyond to demonstrate a high touch, seamless service to key clients
Pricing and Execution
Accurately price and execute all foreign exchange products, including swaps, options, NARCs and ANRAs
Work collaboratively with traders across several desks to digest and manage underlying risks
Understand resource constraints and manage client trading activity efficiently
Structuring and Modelling
Digest and understand the nature of structured requests from clients
Accurately and efficiently model risks associated with client transactions and restructuring opportunities
Structure trades, precisely incorporating trader inputs
Model scenario analysis under various hedging strategies
Working with Internal Partners
Build strong internal relations with Investment and Corporate Banking and trading teams to offer value-added client solutions, while adhering to product and risk limits
Coordinate with internal partners (including back office and legal) to assist in improving processes for the best client experience
Support development of junior team members as part of a dynamic and collaborative work environment

SCOPE AND IMPACT
The work product directly involves front-line revenue generation, impacts the growth initiatives within the Business Unit, and client exposures and multiple other aspects of market risk.
The successful candidate will contribute to the team through delivery of strategic foreign exchange derivative recommendations to clients, ultimately resulting in significant revenue generation for the Business Unit.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge
5+ years experience in Foreign Exchange sales with a strong understanding of Fixed Income markets
Some experience working directly with corporate clients
Strong knowledge of Global Markets including fixed income, corporate debt markets and interest rates
Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, or a related field
Experience with Wallstreet or equivalent systems
Working knowledge of Bloomberg and MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel)
Understanding of hedge accounting concepts and applicability to client solutions is an asset
Familiarity with concepts of XVA, RWA and bank resource management is an asset

Compensation
Salary for this role in Calgary: Vice President $160,000; Director $175,000 (subject to specific skills, experience, education, and qualification requirements).
Pay Type: Salaried.
Salaries may vary based on location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications, and may include a commission structure. Commission roles: the listed salary represents the expected target for the first year.
