Senior Network Specialist

We’re looking for a solution-driven Senior Network Specialist to join our Technology Services team within our Winnipeg Office.

Responsibilities As a Senior Network Specialist with us, you will be responsible for Pollard’s network infrastructure for all aspects of Pollard’s Technology footprint. You will be closely aligned with:

IT Security to ensure best practice security architects are deployed with the IT infrastructure

Architecture to ensure best practices and best fit architectures are designed for Pollard’s current and future use

Sr Manager, Platform Systems & Reliability for directional and technical guidance

The Technical Operations Center (TOC) for aligning monitoring and technical response for incidents and changes required.

You will ensure systems are implemented so they can be deployed, managed, and monitored with the appropriate scalable, reliability, and security to enable the business.

What You’ll Do

Provide troubleshooting of the network, both on-prem and cloud, as needed for multiple platforms including Layer 2 switching and spanning tree technology

Layer 3 routing and related technology

Applications and services running over networks

User and Backend VPN / Direct Connects / PrivateLink Connections

Network security devices including Palo Alto Firewalls (including IDS / IPS) & AWS WAF for both internal and internet traffic

Multi-location networking setup (on premise offices) and multi-region networking in the cloud (Transit Gateways, VPCs, Direct Connect)

Who You Are

Highly organized individual adept at managing multiple issues/projects simultaneously.

Persuasive and effective communicator skilled in developing clear and concise justifications for departmental and company objectives.

Troubleshooter with a knack for problem-solving.

Capable of applying professional negotiating techniques with internal and external stakeholders to determine optimal solutions and provide process explanations.

Proficient in gathering technical requirements from various departments to develop programs that meet business needs.

What You’ll Bring

5+ years of experience with network security devices.

5+ years of experience in networking and infrastructure.

Written and verbal communication skills.

Proficient with change control & trouble shooting tools.

Ability to apply high level of problem-solving skills and expertise to analyze and report on actions and/or solutions.

Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of the business and foster a team-building environment.

Experience in leadership roles, coaching, or training is an asset.
