Job Description
The Firewall Engineer will provide engineering support for firewalls across multiple platforms within the global infrastructure. This role involves leading engineering projects, ensuring compliance with architectural standards, and maintaining the reliability and availability of firewall services. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in firewall technologies, network protocols, and security best practices, with a focus on continuous improvement and collaboration.
Roles and Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for firewalls across multiple platforms within the global infrastructure.
Lead engineering projects to completion, collaborating with teams and vendors.
Deliver successful deployments in alignment with architectural standards.
Work on assigned issues or tasks related to firewall OS configurations.
Implement new or modify existing firewall rules.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency within the GTS Firewall Management Service.
Assist with security audits and remediation of security-related issues.
Resolve problems promptly and escalated complex technical issues when necessary.
Ensure firewall services and systems remain highly available and reliable.
Successful deployment and configuration of firewall systems according to architectural standards.
Timely resolution of firewall-related issues and escalation of complex problems.
Implementation and maintenance of firewall rules and OS configurations.
Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives for firewall management.
Completion of security audits and remediation tasks.
Documentation of processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Skills and Experience
Education:
Bachelorโs degree or college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years in information technology and cybersecurity.
Technical Expertise:
Strong knowledge of Check Point OS, rules, and advanced troubleshooting.
Strong knowledge of Palo Alto OS, rules, and advanced troubleshooting.
Understanding of LAN/WAN and network protocols.
Experience with SNMP monitoring tools (e.g., Orion).
Experience setting up and troubleshooting NETFLOW on Check Point and/or Palo Alto.
Familiarity with monitoring tools and commands for quick issue resolution.
Knowledge of Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies, specifically Palo Alto Prisma.
