About the Role

Reporting to the Manager, Settlement and Structured Transactions (S&STG) or to the Director S&STG, the Senior Analyst will be responsible to integrate new contracts, markets or business initiative and to collaborate in the settlement of energy market trading, long term contracts and retail contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Integrate new contracts, markets or new business initiative into the current settlement processes or develop new processes as needed

Analyze current settlement processes, procedures and reports to implement process improvement

Mentor colleagues, provide training and lead initiative within the team

Coordinate, prepare and submit regulatory reports to various governmental agencies and regulators

Collaborate with various departments to ensure accuracy in financial reports submitted to management

Work on system improvements, upgrades and new system implementations

Support various business platforms as needed

Validate and understand the accounting entries for month end accruals and invoices, and ensure they respect the organization’s accounting standards

Understand the energy market settlement and charge code algorithms to develop shadow calculations

Understand the corporate structure in order to allocate revenue and charges to the right legal entity and business strategy

Conduct research and analysis to remain current with energy market rules that impact settlement

Knowledge and Experience Required

Experience settling the Hydro Québec and other QC PPAs

Experience settling the BC PPAs

Experience settling the Ontario PPAs as well as the IESO market

Experience with the Alberta ISO

Experience with the RECs settlement

Enthusiastic learner with demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail, and quality of work

Self-starter with the ability to work under pressure and be resourceful

Ability to collect and analyze data from appropriate sources to prepare summary reports

Ability to self-motivate and work on a variety of tasks and projects simultaneously in an ever-changing environment

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines

Capable of solving problems and using sound judgment

Excellent written and oral communications skills.

Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related discipline

Minimum five (5) years of settlement-related work experience, preferably in the energy industry

Knowledge of Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) is an asset

Knowledge of Trade capture and Data Validation Systems, such as Open Access Technology International, Inc.(OATI) is an asset

Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
