This role supports implementation of the provincial climate strategy, Prairie Resilience, by analyzing policy and program options, assessing trends and developments that affect climate policy, and contributing to the improvement of the province's emissions management framework. The position also involves drafting and revising regulations, preparing materials for Cabinet, providing policy advice to senior leadership, and working with cross government partners to support sustainable economic growth.
The ideal candidate has strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organization, and at least three years of experience in research and analysis, preparing written materials that support decision making, and developing or evaluating policy. They must be able to write high-quality briefing notes, explain complex issues in clear language, provide value-added analysis, manage multiple tasks, and understand the role of public servants in carrying out government direction. Knowledge of government processes, climate change, funding programs, Saskatchewan's economy, greenhouse gas emissions, and intergovernmental or sustainability issues is an asset.
Knowledge for this role is typically gained through post-secondary education in public policy, public administration, political science, economics, or natural sciences, along with related professional experience.
