Senior Production Manager
Location: Greater Calgary, Alberta
Facility: Gas Compression Fabrication
About the Opportunity
Our client operates a high‑performance industrial fabrication facility in Strathmore, AB, specializing in gas compression equipment, retrofits, and custom fabrication projects.
They are looking for a Senior Production Manager to take full ownership of day‑to‑day shop operations. This leader will oversee a multi‑trade workforce, manage build and retrofit activities, and ensure safe, efficient, and on‑schedule delivery of all production work.

Key Responsibilities
1. Production Leadership & Crew Management
Lead and schedule a workforce of 12–30 trades (welders, pipefitters, instrumentation techs, and contractors).
Manage a contract‑based labor model aligned with our operational approach.
Champion a culture of safety, quality, efficiency, and accountability.
2. Gas Compression Equipment Expertise
Oversee fabrication, repair, and assembly of gas compression packages from major OEMs.
Apply strong technical understanding of mechanical, piping, and instrumentation integration.
3. Retrofits & Legacy Equipment
Lead retrofit and upgrade projects on pre‑existing compression equipment—a critical, high‑value area of the business.
Diagnose issues and coordinate multi‑discipline modifications.
4. Workflow, Planning & Scheduling
Review drawings, work packages, and production plans.
Coordinate workflow across multiple trades to eliminate bottlenecks.
Adjust labor, priorities, and schedules as project demands evolve.
5. Facility Operations & Maintenance
Oversee daily shop operations, equipment readiness, safety compliance, and facility organization.
Drive continuous improvement in processes, layout, tooling, and cost efficiency.
6. Leadership & Communication
Operate with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and initiative.
Collaborate closely with project management, engineering, QC, procurement, and leadership.
Provide clear direction and maintain strong communication in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Candidate Background
Candidates with experience in
gas compression fabrication, oil & gas equipment assembly, or heavy industrial manufacturing
tend to excel in this role. Experience from leading compression and fabrication organizations is considered an asset due to the depth of technical exposure.
Qualifications
5–10+ years of production or fabrication management (compression, oil & gas, or heavy industrial preferred).
Strong technical understanding of compression package assembly (mechanical, piping, instrumentation).
Proven experience managing multi‑trade crews in a fabrication environment.
Retrofit and legacy equipment project experience is an asset.
Facility operations or shop management experience preferred.
Excellent communication, planning, and problem‑solving ability.
