Hybrid Work Model
At Assent, we proudly embrace a remote-first work model, valuing flexibility and autonomy. For team members located within 50 km (31 mi) of our global offices in Ottawa, Eldoret, Penang, Columbus, and Amsterdam, we expect office attendance at least one day a week. Those near co-working spaces in Nairobi and Toronto are encouraged to work onsite once a month.
Job Description
Assent is expanding its AI capabilities to support more efficient, data‑driven, and scalable ways of working across the organization. We are seeking a GenAI Solution Architect to lead the design, governance, and technical delivery of AI‑powered solutions that enhance productivity and empower teams across the business.
Responsibilities
Lead the design of production‑grade GenAI solutions including copilots, automated workflows, retrieval systems, and agent‑based architectures.
Develop and maintain reusable patterns, reference architectures, design standards, and code templates.
Provide solution design leadership and architectural oversight for all AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology strategy.
Evaluate emerging LLM capabilities and guide model selection, integration strategy, and implementation approach.
Provide technical guidance, oversight, training, and enablement to specialized GenAI developers and citizen developers across the organization.
Translate solution designs into clear engineering specifications and development plans.
Oversee code quality, development workflows, testing strategies, and deployment processes.
Ensure solutions include monitoring, auditability, fallback paths, and long‑term maintainability.
Implement technical guardrails for secure data handling, privacy, PII isolation, logging, and responsible AI usage.
Govern citizen‑developer activity and ensure consistency with enterprise standards.
Partner with Security, Privacy, Legal, and Data Governance to identify risks and ensure compliance.
Participate in the enterprise AI governance framework, providing technical guidance and architectural assessments.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to refine use cases, assess feasibility, and translate operational needs into technical workflows.
Support the AI Champions ecosystem with patterns, guidance, and technical enablement.
Contribute to roadmap planning, intake, and prioritization for enterprise AI initiatives.
Work closely with Enterprise Integrations, Data engineering, and Enterprise Architecture to ensure consistent integration with core systems and data platforms.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in technical roles with demonstrated progression in responsibility and scope, including specialized experience in technology solution design, applied AI engineering, or system integration.
Demonstrated experience designing and deploying production‑grade LLM applications, including copilots, agents, RAG systems, or workflow automation.
Strong proficiency in Python, with experience building modular, maintainable components for AI‑driven workflows.
Hands‑on experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, or DSPy, and familiarity with agent‑based design patterns.
Solid understanding of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), including serverless compute, API integration, monitoring, and logging.
Experience designing secure and responsible AI solutions with considerations for PII handling, privacy, auditability, and compliance.
Ability to translate business needs into clear architectural designs, solution patterns, and development specifications.
Proven experience providing technical guidance to developers or cross‑functional engineering contributors.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to evaluate AI system behavior and optimize workflows using performance metrics.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and articulate complex concepts clearly.
