AI Knowledge Engineer

AI Knowledge Engineer/SME Full Time

Job Description: We are looking for an experienced AI Knowledge Engineer/SME to design and implement enterprise grade AI and GenAI solutions. You will work closely with data, product, and business teams to build knowledge retrieval systems, RAG pipelines, and data foundations that power intelligent applications. This role requires strong technical expertise combined with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze business problems and define data strategies that support AI and GenAI initiatives

Source, identify, and prepare high quality data for model development and knowledge retrieval

Design and build Retrieval Augmented Generation pipelines with optimized chunking, embeddings, and similarity search

Architect and maintain knowledge bases including metadata governance, versioning, and data lifecycle best practices

Work with vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Chroma, FAISS, and Milvus

Build and manage data preprocessing and ETL workflows using tools such as Airflow, dbt, or Prefect

Develop and maintain Python based data and AI workflows using NumPy, Pandas, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or HuggingFace

Integrate structured and unstructured data into scalable AI applications

Design and deploy end‑to‑end GenAI solutions including retrieval systems, evaluation frameworks, and model optimization

Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and present architecture decisions with clarity and confidence

Core Competencies

Strategic data understanding and the ability to design data strategies aligned with organizational objectives

Strong knowledge of RAG architectures and retrieval optimization

Hands‑on data engineering experience across relational, NoSQL, and vector databases

Deep understanding of LLMs, embeddings, prompt engineering, and model evaluation

Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Background

6 to 10 years of experience in AI, Data Engineering, or Knowledge Management

Experience designing or implementing enterprise‑level RAG or knowledge retrieval systems

Exposure to GenAI applications such as conversational AI, knowledge agents, or document intelligence

Proven track record of solution design and production deployment

Salary Information Base pay range: CA$130,000.00 / yr – CA$150,000.00 / yr. The salary range provided is indicative. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s years of experience, role alignment, internal equity, and market data.
