Financial Controller
to support our next phase of growth.
Position Summary
The Financial Controller will oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and risk management for Müller Expo and its related entities.
This role requires a hands-on financial leader with experience operating within organizations generating
$20M–$25M annually
, managing multi-entity structures, and overseeing cross-border financial activity in both
USD and CAD currencies
.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in Canadian tax regulations, government grants, international operations, mergers and acquisitions, and financial systems optimization.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including A/R, A/P, payroll, general ledger, and month-end/year-end close.
Prepare and present timely and accurate financial statements.
Manage multi-entity consolidations across domestic and international operations.
Oversee financial reporting in both
CAD and USD
, including foreign exchange management and cross-border transactions.
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Regulatory, Tax & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with Canadian tax regulations and reporting requirements.
Oversee corporate tax filings, audits, and regulatory submissions.
Manage and oversee reporting requirements related to Canadian government grants and funding programs.
Develop and maintain strong internal controls and compliance frameworks.
Strategic & Operational Finance
Partner with executive leadership to support business strategy and growth initiatives.
Lead or support financial due diligence and integration for mergers and acquisitions.
Build financial models to guide strategic and operational decision-making.
Strengthen internal systems and processes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
Regulatory & Risk Management
Identify and mitigate financial risks, including international exposure and currency fluctuations.
Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and industry standards.
Oversee insurance, financial governance policies, and risk controls.
Systems & Process Strength
Evaluate and improve accounting systems and reporting tools.
Drive process improvements and automation where appropriate.
Implement best practices to enhance reporting visibility and operational performance.
Leadership & Communication
Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and finance team.
Communicate financial performance clearly to executive leadership and stakeholders.
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, project management, and production teams.
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and senior leadership.
Qualifications
Required Experience
7–10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
Experience working in organizations generating $20M–$25M annually.
Experience within an international and/or multi-entity environment.
Proven experience managing USD and CAD currency operations.
Strong knowledge of Canadian tax compliance and reporting requirements.
Experience managing or supporting government grants and funding programs.
Direct experience with multi-entity consolidations.
Experience supporting or leading mergers and acquisitions initiatives.
Strong background in regulatory compliance and financial risk management.
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required).
