About the Opportunity
Archie Johnstone Plumbing & Heating is seeking a full-time Project Manager based in
Victoria, BC,
with initial training at the Nanaimo head office.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will oversee commercial and industrial mechanical projects from pre-construction through close-out, managing budgets, procurement, documentation, and coordination with field teams and external partners.
In this position, you will take ownership of financial tracking, purchasing, scheduling, and project documentation, supporting supervisors and site personnel with the information and resources required to complete their scope of work.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and maintaining project budgets, cost tracking, and financial reporting
Issuing purchase orders and coordinating material and equipment procurement
Administering shop drawings, submittals, permits, and inspection processes
Preparing and managing project schedules and start-up documentation
Reviewing invoicing and producing monthly progress draws with superintendent input
Managing change orders and subcontractor change documentation
Coordinating with developers, contractors, engineers, suppliers, and sub-trades
Supporting estimating activities and attending project meetings as required

About You
To qualify, you will need
1+ year of project management or project coordination experience
within
commercial, industrial, or mechanical construction environments . More important than formal education is a
strong work ethic ,
sound judgment , and the
ability to work independently ,
conduct your due diligence , and
bring forward well-considered solutions.
While post-secondary education is not mandatory, experience in
mechanical construction ,
mechanical engineering ,
plumbing ,
HVAC, sprinkler fitting, pipe fitting, estimation , or related technical fields will be viewed as strong assets.
Engineering degrees, technical diplomas, and Red Seal certifications
are highly regarded.
The following are required:
Valid driverโs licence
Willingness to complete initial training in Nanaimo and travel as required
for meetings or project needs
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:
Experience in commercial or industrial construction environments
Working knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, or related mechanical systems
Exposure to general contracting or construction management settings
Budgeting, cost tracking, and procurement experience
Familiarity with shop drawings, submittals, and change orders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
