Job Description

Director, Platform Engineering Infrastructure Ontario (IO), an Ontario crown corporation, provides a wide range of services to support the Ontario government’s initiative to modernize and maximize the value of public infrastructure and realty. IO has been recognized domestically and internationally for the way it does business and the success it has had with its major projects, real estate services, infrastructure lending, commercial projects, and development mandate. Position Purpose The Director, Platform Engineering will lead the strategic direction and delivery of IO’s platform engineering capabilities, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, cloud strategy, and cybersecurity standards. Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of scalable, secure, and resilient technology platforms that support IO’s business operations and digital transformation initiatives.

What You Will Do

Provide leadership and oversight for the development and maintenance of the technological infrastructure and architecture within the organization.

Lead a team of engineers who design, build, and support scalable, reliable and secure platforms and systems required to deliver software products and services.

Accountable for all platform vendor management, including achieving operational metrics, meeting contractual SLAs, licensing, contract management, governance and relationship maintenance.

Establish enterprise architectural standards, design patterns, principles, and governance processes to ensure scalability, reliability, and maintainability of platforms.

Drive continuous improvement in platform reliability, scalability, and cost-efficiency through innovation and best practices.

Manage vendor relationships and service delivery for platform-related technologies and services.

Develop and implement platform governance frameworks, standards, and documentation.

Lead and mentor a team of platform engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.

Support enterprise-wide initiatives by providing platform expertise and strategic input.

Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies related to infrastructure and data security.

Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and resource planning for platform engineering functions.

What We Are Looking For

Proven experience in leading platform engineering teams and delivering enterprise‑grade infrastructure solutions.

Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code.

Strong knowledge of data platforms including Databricks.

Demonstrated ability to manage and evolve enterprise architecture.

Demonstrated ability to align technology strategies with business goals and drive cross‑functional collaboration.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience with vendor management, contract negotiation, and service level agreements.

Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and operational excellence.

We offer a competitive salary range of

$128,000

to

$173,200

(M3 level), pay will align with skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate.
