Job Description
Managing Director, Value Creation, Platform Technology Engineering
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to help build and scale the Technology & Data Centre of Excellence that drives measurable value creation across a diverse global portfolio. As Managing Director, Value Creation, Platform Technology Engineering, you will set clear direction on how portfolio companies design, modernize, and operate their technology platforms. You will advise on large‑scale platform and cloud transformations across leading ecosystems such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, and comparable enterprise platforms, ensuring technology investment aligns to value creation plans, risk reduction, and exit readiness.
Who You’ll Work With
You will report to the Head of Technology & Data CoE within the broader Portfolio Solutions team and work in close partnership with deal teams, and value creation partners across asset classes. You’ll engage directly with portfolio company boards, CEOs, and technology leaders (CTOs, CIOs, CPOs) to influence critical platform and architecture decisions. You’ll also collaborate with other Centres of Excellence and external advisors, acting as a trusted, hands‑on partner.
What You’ll Do
Advise portfolio companies on platform and cloud strategy across major ecosystems (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Google, IBM, Salesforce), helping leaders make pragmatic, value‑driven decisions
Assess technology and engineering execution during diligence, including platform maturity, cloud architecture, security posture, and delivery risk
Influence stakeholders on technology trade‑offs, risks, and investment decisions
Translate value creation priorities into clear technology roadmaps, sequencing investments to focus on what materially moves performance within the investment horizon
Define architecture standards ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and operationally sound
Support large‑scale platform modernization initiatives, including cloud adoption, DevOps / DevSecOps practices, and engineering productivity improvements
Help portfolio companies simplify complex technology landscapes by rationalizing applications, vendors, and platforms
Guide leadership teams on practical AI, automation, and data use cases aligned to business outcomes
What You’ll Need
15+ years of experience in senior technology, platform engineering, or product leadership roles, ideally in consulting, large‑scale transformation, or complex operating environments
Deep experience advising or leading transformations across hyper‑sizer and enterprise platforms such as Microsoft, AWS, Google, or comparable ecosystems (e.g., IBM, Salesforce)
Strong background in platform engineering, cloud architecture, and modern delivery models, including DevOps and DevSecOps
Proven ability to assess technology health and execution risk and translate findings into practical, business‑oriented recommendations
Experience influencing C‑suite executives and boards on platform, cloud, and architecture decisions in high‑stakes environments
Comfort operating across industries and asset types, with the judgment to adapt patterns rather than apply “one size fits all solutions”
Demonstrated pragmatism—balancing innovation with value, speed, and risk management
Intellectual curiosity and fluency in emerging areas such as AI and automation, with a focus on application rather than theory
What we’re offering
Numerous opportunities for professional growth and development
Comprehensive employer‑paid benefits coverage
Retirement income through a defined benefit pension plan
The opportunity to invest back into the fund through our Deferred Incentive Program
A flexible work environment combining in‑office collaboration and remote working
Competitive time off
