Overview
AtkinsRéalis is currently seeking an experienced
Sr. Pipe Stress Analyst Engineer
to join our Candu Energy Inc. engineering team in Mississauga, Ontario. This position requires a self‑motivated professional who can work independently or under the guidance of senior engineers, following instructions from a qualified professional engineer to complete mechanical‑related scopes or tasks and develop necessary engineering design documentation.
Your role
Perform pipe stress evaluation of piping systems in accordance with ASME Section III, Div. 1, and/or ASME B31.1/B31.3 code requirements, including thermal, fatigue, seismic, linear and non‑linear analyses.
Prepare engineering computations and analyses using applicable software (e.g., PipeStress, AutoPipe, Cesar II, MathCAD, GT STRUDL, ANSYS).
Review technical documents and drawings (General Arrangement, isometrics, pipe supports, flow diagrams, P&ID), calculations, design/analysis reports, design requirements, manuals, statements, and data sheets.
Support preparation of TSSA CRN registration packages for pressure boundary systems.
Function as a technical interface with clients, suppliers, inter‑discipline engineering teams, construction partners and project management groups.
Perform site visits to client and supplier shops as required and support field construction and execution activities.
Execute engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy QA programs and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
About You
Engineering degree in Mechanical, Civil & Structural from an accredited university or equivalent recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Registered or eligible to be registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
Minimum 10 years of related work experience in mechanical engineering within a heavy industrial environment such as power, mining, oil & gas, etc. (knowledge of nuclear power systems is an asset).
Design experience with piping supports for power, mining, oil & gas plants.
Experience in stress analysis using PipeStress, AutoPipe, Cesar II, MathCAD. GT STRUDL or similar software is an asset.
Working knowledge of CSA B51, ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ASCE, NBCC, AISC, and other applicable codes and standards related to process equipment.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Other Aspects:
Knowledge of CSA N285.0, CSA N289 and ASME Section III and related nuclear plant standards.
Design engineering experience in nuclear class 1, 2, 3 and 6 piping systems and their supports.
Eligibility to obtain security clearances through PWGSC (mandatory).
May be required to obtain Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) status and travel to client job sites.
Experience with transient load analysis (water hammer, pressure surge, etc.) for piping systems.
Experience with buried pipe systems and seismic assessment in accordance with Appendix VII of ASME B31.1 or other applicable codes.
Qualification within the last five years as a Specialized Professional Engineer to ASME Section III Division 1, Appendix XXIII.
Experience supervising and coordinating small teams of stress analysis engineers/designers.
Experience with stress analysis/supports design for steam piping systems in nuclear balance‑of‑plant.
