Job Description

SUMMARY OF THE POSITION The Community Miyupimaatisiiun health Centre (CMC), offers front-line services and community health for the local population. Services are given where it is best suited in accordance with the clients’ needs and are offered through various means such as consultation at the CMC, home visit, group activities and support with community resources. Nurse clinician, who, in addition to her/his functions as an assistant head nurse or assistant to the immediate superior, develops implements, evaluates and revises clinical tools and health care quality assessment tools. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS The Assistant to the Immediate Supervisor (AIS), operates directly under the local coordinator, with a focus on day-to-day patient care decisions, and implementation of policies and procedures outlined by the coordinator. The AIS acts as a bridge between the nursing staff and the coordinator, ensuring the execution of the strategic vision on the ground. She/he also communicates to the local coordinator the challenges encountered and possible solutions. • Serves as a mentor to nursing staff, providing guidance, support, and education to foster professional growth and high-quality patient care, promotes a culture of continuous improvement and learning; • Works in collaboration with the local coordinator to plan daily shifts, ensuring appropriate task delegation aligned with patient care requirements and staff capabilities; • Responsible for providing hands-on assistance with Clinical Procedures in complex patient care interventions, or is delegating nursing tasks based on patient needs and staff capabilities. During peak times, the ASI assist the team with patients’ clinical assessments and care, or reorganizes the workload in the event of the unforeseen absence of one of the nursing staff; • Facilitates the response to emergency situations during regular hours, to ensure swift and effective care and is organizing nursing team debriefings to ensure continuous learning; • Develops and maintains open lines of communication with all members of the healthcare team, including physicians, other nursing staff, administrative and management personnel. Ensures effective information exchanges for promoting positive communication in the workplace and quality care services for patients; • Responsible to ensure and organize the welcoming, integration/ or, orientation and clinical knowledge evaluation of a new employee in an objective matter; • Collaborates with internal and external staff in execution of the continuous Improvement Initiatives to improve patient care and make the department more efficient; • Ensures the Nursing protocol is applied and respected, participates in quality improvement initiatives, auditing processes, and the implementation of best practices in patient care, monitors and responds to quality indicators and patient satisfaction metrics to drive improvements; • Reviews the accident-incident reports with management, and conducts regular Quality Control checks to ensure adherence to healthcare standards, policies, procedures and collective prescription in place in the organization; • Ensures all materials and medication orders are placed timely, reviews, updates and replenishes their stock, performs quality control tests of all required equipment used by the healthcare team during patients Lab tests or clinical interventions, if necessary answers phone calls and emails with regards to quality control from regional connected departments (pharmacy, Lab, Biomed, Public Health etc.,); • Provides training to other nurses if such tasks are to be delegated based on the nursing team workload; • Answers calls from clients or their families, responds to impromptu client requests in person acting as a liaison between healthcare team, patients and their families to ensure clear communication and supportive environment; • Ensures all support staff is present at work in the absence of the immediate supervisor; REQUIREMENTS Education: • Member in good standing of the O.I.I.Q According to the local collective labor agreement (Letter of agreement number 2), an interview may be required for the selection process. Language: • Fluent in English; • Fluency in Cree or French is an asset. Other: • Includes on-call periods for Current Services; • This position includes extended role functions.
