What Does the Opportunity Look Like?
The Development Officer plays a key role in expanding the organization’s donor pipeline by identifying, qualifying, and cultivating relationships with new and prospective donors. The role focuses on proactive outreach, early-stage relationship building, and engaging individuals who are new to the organization.
This position requires a confident communicator who is comfortable initiating conversations and representing the organization through clear, compelling messaging that sparks interest and opens the door for deeper donor engagement.
Key responsibilities
Portfolio Strategy, Programme Quality and Impact
Identify and qualify new donor prospects through cold calls, emails, referrals, events, and research.
Conduct discovery calls and introductory meetings to assess donor interest, capacity, and alignment with the mission.
Relationship Development
Build and nurture relationships with prospective donors through consistent and personalized engagement.
Manage a portfolio of new and early-stage prospects, focusing on proactive outreach.
Collaboration and Donor Transition
Collaborate with Major Gifts Officers and the fundraising team to transition qualified donors once they exceed $10,000 in annual giving.
Contribute to integrated fundraising strategies across departments.
Data Management and Prospect Research
Maintain accurate donor and prospect records in the CRM system.
Prepare call reports, qualification summaries, and donor insights to support stewardship and donor mapping.

What Are We Looking For?
2–4 years of experience in fundraising, sales, business development, or relationship-focused roles.
Strong communication, listening, and relationship-building skills, including comfort with cold calling.
Experience using CRM or donor database systems (Salesforce preferred).
Well-organized with strong time-management skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
