PROFILE We are currently seeking a Senior Financial Analyst, Reporting and Analysis to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for key elements of the monthly financial close process, the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, and the delivery of internal and external historical reporting requests.

The position offers an opportunity for continued professional development within Finance. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong technical expertise, sound judgment and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative environment. As experience is gained, the role will evolve with increased responsibility and involvement in supporting the team including day‑to‑day oversight of a team through priority management, work review, and guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and lead the monthly financial close process, ensuring timeliness, accuracy, and completeness.

Oversee all general ledger activities, including cash, prepaids, receivables, WIP, accruals, intercompany transactions, capital assets, deferred revenue, long‑term debt, and other asset and liability accounts.

Develop a process to monitor contingency files and WIP management with the Lawyers and execute on that process.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.

Ensure compliance with ASPE, the partnership’s accounting policies, and applicable provincial law society rules and requirements.

Support internal and external financial reporting requirements, including financial statements, Partnership Board reporting and other management reporting including ad hoc requests from departments and clients.

Provide guidance and day‑to‑day support to members of the Reporting and Analysis team, fostering collaboration and high‑quality outputs.

Act as a key contact for external auditors in support of audit requirements.

Support of other key projects as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

CPA designation required.

Prior experience in progressively more challenging positions in finance (5+ years)

Previous experience in a financial reporting role using Enterprise Accounting Software

Demonstrates a solutions‑oriented approach, challenges status quo, and strives to improve processes

Ability to manage multiple and competing tasks/priorities

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Advanced Excel proficiency required, including complex formulas and PivotTables

Experience with SQL, Power BI, Power Query and reporting automation tools (Python and/or VBA) is an asset

The starting range for this role is

$70,000 to $90,000 . Starting salary will be determined based on an applicant’s individual skills, competencies and unique qualifications. Gowling WLG employees have the potential to exceed this range based on tenure and performance.
