The Opportunity: Senior Tableau Developer
Job Description Summary
The Senior Analytics and Reporting Specialist at Telus Health is a high-impact role responsible for bridging the gap between complex health/wellbeing data and strategic business decisions. You will leverage your expertise in the Tableau visualizations, semantic design, cloud data warehousing to build and maintain sophisticated reporting solutions.
Responsibilities
Requirement Architecture: Gather complex business requirements and develop comprehensive report/dashboard specification documents for stakeholders.
Data Intelligence: Fully understand the data models built in BigQuery/ Azure and the interaction of data tables to ensure high-accuracy reporting.
Semantic Layer Architecture: Design, develop, and govern a unified semantic layer to ensure consistent business logic, calculations, and KPI definitions across all reporting tools.
Advanced Visualization: Develop and enhance standard and custom dashboards using Tableau (Desktop/Server) and Tableau Prep to meet the specific needs of internal teams and external clients.
Agile Sprint Participation: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, providing bi-weekly sprint updates and leading technical demos of completed work to the project team to ensure alignment with roadmap milestones.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
5+ years of professional experience with Tableau (Desktop, Server, and Prep).
Expert-level SQL development (BigQuery, T-SQL), including complex scripting and stored procedures.
Deep experience with Cloud platforms, specifically BigQuery (Google Cloud), AWS, or Azure.
Strong understanding of Data Modeling and Data Warehousing principles within a complex enterprise environment.
Experienced in estimating complexity, time, and effort, working closely with Project Managers to meet requirements within Agile or Waterfall frameworks.
Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques and system architecture mapping.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and clinical contacts.
Exceptional professional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present data stories to non-technical audiences.
Outstanding attention to detail and a commitment to upholding high quality-control standards for sensitive health data.
Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a proven track record of working through complex technical issues to meet strict deadlines.
Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency, resourcefulness, and accountability in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
