Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Geoscience Conventional Heavy Oil, the Contract Geophysicist will be accountable to work in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure reservoir development plans are optimized to meet business needs, enable the successful execution of our development plans, and support our long-term strategy.

This role will apply geophysical interpretation techniques, including advanced seismic inversion techniques, to characterize reservoir complexity, identify reservoir risks and propose development opportunities.

What you’ll do:

Work with asset geologists, reservoir engineers and earthworks team to plan annual strat well program to delineate the reservoir, ensuring consistency in development practices and fostering effective communication

Provide quality control for processing of seismic data, using appropriate parameters for the needs of the business

Interpret and generate depth converted seismic surfaces for development well planning, well placement and real time drilling

Work with geologists, geophysicists, acquisition team, engineers and regulatory teams to plan 2D and 3D seismic programs to reduce delineation and reservoir risk, and optimize production

Provide geophysical input for geomodels, regulatory submissions and resource management reports, creating documentation and presentations for technical reviews

Support workflow optimization projects to improve geoscience and reservoir engineering workflows and work products

Who you are: Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Bachelor of Science in Geophysics

Minimum 8 years of related industry experience

Comfortable in a fast-paced prospecting heavy role.

Registered P. Geo and in good standing with APEGA or other Provincial Professional Geoscience Organization

Proficiency in 2D and 3D seismic interpretation & visualisation, seismic attribute analysis & other specialized geophysical interpretative techniques

Good understanding of clastic depositional systems preferably with some exposure to Mannville Group stratigraphy

Experience with a wide range of geoscience software such as Hampson‑Russell, Jason, and SeisWare. Expertise in Petrel is preferred.
