Day in the Life
The Senior Data Analyst reports to the Director, Corporate Strategy, and is responsible for managing the member firms and industry data reporting systems to support the execution of CIRO’s strategic plan and annual priorities. This position will be a key role in the Dealer Member Dashboard and Portal project as part of CIRO’s transformation to create a central repository and modernize information flow with member firms.
Core Responsibilities
Build, manage and maintain member firms and industry data reporting systems to generate insights and support decision-making.
Coordinate the collection of data from various sources and departments within the organization.
Prepare plans and document business processes to streamline member firms and industry data collection, storage, and analysis for reporting purposes.
Manage and maintain the members-only site and other communication channels with member firms.
Collaborate with IT and business groups to gather business requirements, conduct impact assessments, and integrate systems and databases for seamless data flow.
Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
Create and deliver reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present and communicate data findings.
Build training modules and educate team members on optimal use of newly developed processes.
Support Corporate Strategy, Member Services, and Innovation and other departments, as needed, on key strategic projects and initiatives.
Key Skills and Competencies
Must‑Haves
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology and Management, Business Analytics, Finance OR equivalent professional designation/certification (CDMP, CBAP, PMP) with significant business and data analytical experience.
Proven experience in data management, analysis, or business intelligence, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
Knowledge of Data Management Principles and Practices and technologies that support data mining and analysis.
Strong project management and stakeholder engagement experience to lead data centralization initiatives and consultations in business requirements gathering, impact assessment, and coordination of data collection and reporting processes.
Experience building databases, extracting and manipulating large‑scale datasets using SQL from relational databases/warehouses (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Access) and system integration in enterprise‑wide platforms.
Proficient coding skills in a programming language such as Python, JAVA, MATLAB, or R for quantitative analysis or data mining; expert experience in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft CRM, and Office 365.
Data analysis skills to extract insights and trends from complex datasets through visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
Analytical mindset with a good instinct for developing key performance metrics and identifying best practices and opportunities for improvement.
Communication skills to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and convey technical information to non‑technical stakeholders.
Problem‑solving skills to address data quality issues and optimize data processes.
Nice‑to‑Haves
Knowledge in Blockchain technologies, platform development, Tokenomics and consensus algorithms.
Master’s degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Information Technology and Management, Business Analytics, Finance).
Experience managing or coordinating IT and data management projects, including software development, infrastructure upgrades, and large‑scale system implementations.
Experience in strategy and planning processes, compliance, regulatory, financial services and investment industry areas.
Bilingualism in English and French.
