Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Senior IT Project Manager
to support two critical modernization initiatives within the
Correctional Services Division (CSD)
under the Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services (PSES).
The successful candidate will provide leadership to complete the final phases of two ongoing projects focused on
secure digital services and infrastructure modernization across Alberta correctional facilities .
Projects You Will Support:
This project delivers a
secure, internet-based video visitation solution
that allows individuals in custody to connect safely with family, friends, and professional visitors.
The system is currently operational at the
Edmonton Remand Centre (ERC)
and is entering its final implementation phase. The Project Manager will work closely with leadership, technical teams, and vendors to guide the project through completion and support broader adoption across the province.
2. Correctional Facilities Wi-Fi Implementation
This project focuses on deploying
secure Wi-Fi infrastructure across Alberta correctional facilities
to enable modern digital operations.
Implementation has been completed in
8 of the 10 facilities , with final deployments remaining at:
Calgary Correctional Centre (CCC)
Calgary Young Offender Centre (CYOC)
The Project Manager will collaborate with cross-ministry partners and frontline teams to ensure successful completion and alignment with
Government of Alberta standards and public safety requirements .
Key Responsibilities
Lead
IT projects from initiation through completion , ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, and objectives.
Develop
project charters, business cases, and project management plans .
Manage
project governance, timelines, resources, and budgets .
Work closely with
project sponsors, business stakeholders, IT teams, and external vendors .
Gather and document
business and technical requirements .
Ensure IT solutions align with
enterprise architecture and government standards .
Prepare
status reports, presentations, and deliverables
for leadership and steering committees.
Identify and manage
project risks, issues, dependencies, and escalations .
Maintain strong
client and stakeholder relationships
throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate
cross-ministry collaboration
with partners including Technology & Innovation, Alberta Infrastructure, Alberta Health Services, and others.
Support
change management, communications, and user adoption
activities.
Ensure project activities follow
PMO standards, methodologies, and governance frameworks .
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience managing
complex IT implementation projects .
Strong experience with
project planning, governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement .
Ability to manage
multiple projects and cross-functional teams .
Experience working with
enterprise architecture frameworks and IT standards .
Strong
communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills .
Experience working with
government, public sector, or regulated environments
is considered an asset.
