Job Description

Overview Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions Business Area is looking for a talented Strategy and M&A Analyst.

The Strategy and M&A Analyst is a critical member of the Autonomous Solutions Strategy and M&A team, supporting divisional-level mergers and acquisitions initiatives and the deployment of strategic programs across the business area. The analyst will manage the acquisition pipeline and complete analysis for potential transactions, including financial modelling. They will coordinate with subject matter experts across the organization as needed to support the deal team in due diligence and deal negotiation. They will also support divisions in post-merger synergy tracking and realization.

The role includes supporting the VP, Strategy and M&A in strategic programs and other responsibilities of the Strategy and M&A team, including research, analysis, and preparing materials for various meetings and presentations. This position requires a candidate with strong interpersonal and analytical skills, a high degree of maturity, and a proven willingness to manage a challenging workload and meet deadlines. The ideal candidate will be expected to apply critical thinking, ask questions, and challenge assumptions. A strong emphasis will be placed on the ability to master the details while also seeing the "big picture."

The Location:

This position can be based in Tucson, Calgary, Vancouver, or remote

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

Support the development and implementation of divisional-level M&A strategies

Assist in preparing business area–level communications for the President, CFO, and AS Leadership, including presentations on M&A, strategy, R&D portfolio, and other programs

Contribute to the biannual Medium-Term Financial Planning (MTFP) process, ensuring alignment and effective delivery of M&A strategy

Analyze market trends and competitive landscapes to support M&A decision-making

Support ESG strategy planning, implementation, and performance tracking

M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) & PMI (Post-Merger Integration)

Manage and maintain the acquisition pipeline

Build and maintain strong relationships with external advisors, investment banks, and industry professionals

Prepare business case analyses, including strategic rationale and financial implications

Participate in due diligence activities, with a focus on deal valuation and financial modelling

Support post-merger integration (PMI) activities in collaboration with the sponsoring division, as required

Strategic Programs

Support communication and engagement initiatives related to strategic programs

Consolidate, track, and report on program performance objectives

Chief of Staff Support (VP – Strategy & M&A)

Provide project management support as needed

Assist with planning activities and the development of communication materials

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

2+ years of M&A experience within an M&A advisory firm, investment bank, corporate M&A team, or private equity (with relevant skill set)

Experience supporting due diligence activities (required); post-merger integration experience is a strong asset

Tertiary qualifications (academic or equivalent experience) in Engineering, Product Management, Finance, or Project Management

International business experience is considered a plus

Ability to develop well-reasoned recommendations and compelling proposals

Technical Understanding

Ability to learn and understand technical aspects of autonomous solutions across multiple industries, including mining, aerospace & D efense, and agriculture, to effectively support Strategy and M&A initiatives

Results Orientation

Highly results-driven, with the ability to set measurable goals, track progress, and adjust strategies to achieve desired outcomes
