Role Description We are looking for a motivated Junior Network Security Engineer to join our Network & Security Business Unit. This is an excellent entry‑level opportunity for a passionate professional who wants to build a career in network security, working alongside senior engineers on real‑world enterprise infrastructure projects.

You will be exposed to leading security vendors — including Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, and F5 — gaining hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, mentorship‑driven environment.

Salary range: CAD $60K – $80K Occasional travel will be required to USA and across Canada

Key Responsibilities

Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of network security infrastructures under senior supervision.

Assist in the configuration and monitoring of Next‑Generation Firewalls (NGFW) from leading vendors.

Perform log analysis, basic incident response, and escalation of security events.

Help manage network security policies and firewall rule sets.

Assist in documentation of network topologies, security configurations, and change management processes.

Participate in troubleshooting activities for network connectivity and security issues.

Contribute to system hardening tasks and vulnerability remediation.

Collaborate with the team to support enterprise clients and grow your technical knowledge.

Technical Requirements Must‑Have (Foundational Knowledge)

Basic understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, subnetting.

Familiarity with firewall concepts and security policy management.

Understanding of VPN technologies (IPSec, SSL/TLS).

Basic knowledge of at least one security vendor platform: Fortinet (FortiGate), Palo Alto Networks, Cisco (ASA/Firepower), or F5.

Understanding of common security concepts: perimeter security, DMZ, NAT, access control lists.

Nice‑to‑Have (Advantageous)

Hands‑on lab or academic experience with Fortinet FortiGate or Palo Alto NGFW.

Exposure to SASE or SD‑WAN concepts.

Basic scripting skills (Python, Bash) for automation tasks.

Experience with network monitoring and log management tools.

Familiarity with cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

Education & Certifications Degree (or current enrollment) in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field.

Preferred Certifications (any of the following is a strong plus)

Cisco: CCNA or CCNA Security

Fortinet: NSE 1 / NSE 2 / NSE 3 (free Fortinet NSE training available online)

Palo Alto: PCCSE or completion of Palo Alto Networks EDU courses

CompTIA: Security+, Network+

Any vendor-neutral cybersecurity certification (e.g., CEH, eJPT)
