Great Gulf is seeking a talented and experienced
AI Specialist, Infrastructure
to join our team in Toronto.
In this role, you will help implement and manage AI‑driven solutions that improve infrastructure reliability, automate operational workflows, and drive efficiency across the organization.
This position will initially be embedded within the Infrastructure team, leveraging a strong foundation in enterprise IT, cloud platforms, and automation to identify opportunities where AI can reduce manual effort, improve system performance, optimize costs, and strengthen operational best practices.
Over time, this role will expand across other teams – including software development, database operations, and business units – to apply AI‑driven solutions to broader workflows and processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement AI‑driven solutions that improve day‑to‑day infrastructure operations, performance, reliability, and scalability
Identify repetitive, manual, or high‑friction operational tasks suitable for AI‑assisted automation or augmentation
Translate business and technical challenges into practical AI use cases with measurable outcomes
Define standards and best practices for the responsible use of AI across IT and operations
Infrastructure & Operations Enablement
Work closely with the infrastructure team to embed AI into monitoring, alerting, incident response, capacity planning, and cost optimization workflows
Implement AI‑assisted analysis for system logs, metrics, alerts, and performance data to improve mean time to detection and resolution
Enhance documentation, runbooks, and troubleshooting processes using AI‑based tools and copilots
Ensure AI solutions integrate cleanly with existing on‑premises and cloud infrastructure
Extend existing automation frameworks (PowerShell, scripting, orchestration tools) with AI‑driven decision‑making and insights
Design intelligent workflows for provisioning, patching, compliance checks, backup validation, and operational reporting
Evaluate and integrate AI platforms, APIs, and tools into enterprise environments securely and efficiently
Partner with software development teams to apply AI in CI/CD pipelines, code analysis, testing, and operational support
Collaborate with database and data teams to introduce AI‑assisted performance analysis, optimization, and capacity forecasting
Support business and operational teams by designing AI solutions that reduce manual effort and improve accuracy and speed
Act as an internal AI advocate, helping teams understand where AI adds value and where it does
Governance, Security & Best Practices
Establish guardrails, standards, and governance models for AI usage, data handling, and access control
Ensure AI implementations align with security, privacy, compliance, and audit requirements
Evaluate vendors and third‑party solutions, providing architectural guidance and ROI‑based recommendations
Maintain clear documentation of AI architectures, workflows, and decision logic
Leadership & Enablement
Serve as a technical leader and subject‑matter expert for AI across IT and operations
Provide guidance, knowledge sharing, and enablement to infrastructure, development, and support teams
Contribute to long‑term infrastructure and AI roadmaps, modernization initiatives, and strategic planning
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, cloud engineering, or related roles
Strong hands‑on experience with enterprise infrastructure, including Windows Server, Linux, virtualization, storage, and networking
Deep experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud environments
Proven background in automation and scripting (PowerShell required; Python or similar strongly preferred)
Practical, hands‑on experience implementing AI solutions in production environments
Strong understanding of modern AI concepts, including large language models (LLMs), AI copilots, APIs, prompt engineering, and intelligent automation
Ability to design scalable, secure, and maintainable AI‑integrated architectures
Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable solutions
Physical Requirements and Environment
Office environment – sitting/working at desk/computer in a shared office space and/or remote working from home
Compensation
Pay Range: $80,000 - $100,000
