Football Canada is seeking an accomplished executive leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer at a defining moment for the sport.
Football Canada is the national governing body for amateur football in Canada, responsible for the leadership, development, and promotion of the sport from grassroots participation through high performance.
With flag football’s inclusion in the Olympic Games, the organization is entering a historic era of growth and international opportunity. The next CEO will lead a new chapter of national visibility, participation expansion, commercial development, and high-performance success.
We are seeking a results-oriented leader who can unite a diverse national sport system, build strong teams, and secure sustainable funding and strategic partnerships.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will lead the organization and work in partnership with Provincial and Territorial Sport Organizations, national stakeholders, and international governing bodies to advance a cohesive national system.
The CEO’s mandate spans three core areas:
National Sport Organization (NSO) Leadership
Execute a clear, measurable national strategy.
Strengthen alignment across the national sport system.
Lead and develop high-performing teams.
Ensure financial sustainability, strong governance, and effective risk management.
Champion Safe Sport and inclusive practices across the organization.
Olympic and High-Performance Leadership
Provide enterprise oversight of national team and high-performance pathways.
Align grassroots participation with athlete development and elite performance.
Represent Football Canada with Sport Canada, Own the Podium, Canadian Olympic Committee and international federations.
Position Canada for sustained international competitiveness.
Revenue, Partnerships and Growth
Develop and lead a diversified national revenue strategy.
Build and maintain strong corporate, philanthropic, and government partnerships.
Strengthen Football Canada’s national profile and commercial position.
Deliver measurable financial growth and long-term stability.
LEADERSHIP PROFILE
The successful candidate will bring:
10+ years of senior executive leadership experience within sport, not-for-profit, public sector, or complex member-based organizations.
A university degree in Business Administration, Sport Management, or a related field; a graduate degree is considered an asset.
Demonstrated success leading growth, modernization, or organizational change.
Accountability for financial performance, including oversight of multi-million-dollar budgets and diversified revenue generation.
A strong partnership-building and philanthropic leadership orientation, with demonstrated success in cultivating strategic alliances, donor relationships, and revenue through fundraising and sponsorship.
The ability to unite diverse stakeholders and operate effectively in visible, multi-partner environments.
Experience working effectively with Boards of Directors and governance committees.
Strong business acumen and risk management capability.
Experience building and leading high-performing executive teams.
Strong communication and negotiation skills, with credibility in national and international settings. Commitment to Safe Sport and inclusive leadership.
Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
Experience engaging with government funding agencies, Olympic partners, or international sport federations is an asset.
LOCATION
The position is remotely based within Canada, with regular national and international travel required.
