Job Summary
As a CADD Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping the infrastructure that supports our communities—bringing your technical expertise to regional road, water, and wastewater projects. This dynamic position calls for sharp attention to detail, creative problem‑solving approach, and a strong technical foundation. You'll collaborate with a diverse team of professionals across public works departments and external agencies, driving forward the planning and execution of impactful, high‑quality infrastructure initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
Develop detailed maps to support various Public Works teams
Gather and analyze information from both internal and external sources
Prepare municipal engineering plan/profile base plan drawings using Civil 3D
Conduct engineering calculations and apply field edits as necessary to maintain accuracy
Review and audit drawings for precision, completeness, and adherence to established standards
Coordinate with utility providers, local municipalities, and relevant government agencies to support project requirements
Participate in project meetings providing technical input and progress updates
Contribute to the updating and maintenance of Halton CADD Standards Manual
Maintain, update, and archive “As Constructed” drawings in accordance with record‑keeping protocols
Provide technical support to Project Managers and members of the management team
Engage in job rotations and shadowing opportunities within Technical Services to broaden skills and support cross‑functional collaboration
Skills & Qualifications
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an OACETT‑accredited college or a recognized institution
2-5 years of relevant design experience and drawing production in municipal engineering with a focus on water, wastewater and road design
Proficiency in Civil 3D, including expertise in:
Plan & profiles
Alignments
Pipe networks
Volume calculations
Cross sections
Grading & ditching
Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite
Strong analytical, mathematical, and communication skills
Ability to manage time‑sensitive tasks and balance competing deadlines
Experience in road‑related engineering considered an asset
Working/Employment Conditions
Incumbent will attend design and construction site visits and meetings as required within Halton Region.
This position has prolonged periods of sitting.
