Along with our partner, we are seeking a
Senior IT Operations Engineer
to build and lead their IT operations practice from the ground up. This is a foundational role. They will be the first hire dedicated to IT operations and will be responsible for creating the infrastructure, processes, and playbooks that will define how IT services are delivered to startup clients.
This role requires a high degree of self-direction and autonomy. They will work with cloud-native startup environments, manage relationships with third-party service providers, and serve as the technical escalation point for complex IT issues. They will also be client-facing, responsible for onboarding new clients, setting expectations, and communicating progress.
Key Responsibilities:
Build IT Operations Infrastructure
Design and implement IT operations processes, procedures, and documentation from scratch
Create standardized onboarding playbooks, runbooks, and configuration templates
Establish best practices for identity and access management, device management, and security configurations
Build a scalable foundation that can support multiple concurrent client engagements
Client Engagement & Onboarding
Lead client onboarding for IT operations, including requirements gathering and timeline setting
Develop and present onboarding plans that set clear expectations with clients
Communicate technical requirements and progress to non-technical stakeholders
Serve as the primary IT operations contact for assigned clients
Technical Operations
Implement and manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions, including SSO configurations
Deploy and maintain Mobile Device Management (MDM) for macOS and Windows environments
Configure and manage cloud-native tooling across client environments
Handle escalated help desk tickets that require senior-level expertise
Manage relationships with third-party service providers, including help desk vendors
Documentation & Process Development
Document all configurations, processes, and procedures as they are built
Create and maintain SOPs that enable consistent service delivery
Develop training materials and knowledge base articles
Requirements:
Required Experience
6+ years of IT operations experience
Managed Service Provider (MSP) experience is required; this is non-negotiable
Experience with Jamf Pro or Similar MDM for macOS device management, enrollment, configuration profiles, and policy enforcement.
Deep expertise in Identity and Access Management (IAM) and Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions
Extensive experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM) for both macOS and Windows
Strong background in cloud-native environments and modern SaaS tooling
Experience working directly with customers in a client-facing capacity
Technical Skills
Proficiency with identity providers such as Okta, Azure AD, or Google Workspace
Hands-on experience with MDM platforms such as Jamf Pro, Intune, or Kandji
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and cloud-native architectures
Understanding of security best practices and how IT controls support compliance frameworks
Soft Skills
Exceptional self-direction and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Strong communication skills, ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences
Documentation-first mindset, naturally creating SOPs and runbooks while working
Comfortable setting and managing expectations with clients
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple client engagements simultaneously

This is a remote position. Candidates must be able to work during Eastern Time Zone or Pacific Time Zone business hours to ensure overlap with clients and team members.
