Senior Applied Scientist – Computer Vision & Machine Learning 100% Remote (Brazil-Based) | US-Based Company | Paid in USD/hour | PJ Contract
We are hiring for
The RealReal , a leading US-based luxury resale and eCommerce company transforming how high-end fashion is bought and sold.
Our
Inbound Team
builds highly scalable Machine Learning and Computer Vision systems to determine item attributes (color, material, style) and verify merchandise authenticity at scale.
We are looking for a
Senior Applied Scientist
to own the development and deployment of ML solutions and influence the technical direction of the team.
What You’ll Do
Develop and deploy
Computer Vision and Machine Learning
solutions to solve high-impact business problems
Build clean, efficient, and scalable production-grade code
Analyze large-scale datasets to extract actionable insights
Apply state-of-the-art ML methodologies (CNNs, Transformers, GANs, etc.)
Design and manage experimentation frameworks (A/B testing, feature engineering, training/serving pipelines)
Own key system components and influence architectural decisions
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Tech Leads
Mentor other team members and elevate technical standards
Contribute to intellectual property through patents and publications
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years of industry experience in
Computer Vision and Applied Machine Learning
Master’s degree or PhD in CS, ML, Statistics, or related field — or 8+ years of equivalent industry experience
3+ years building, deploying, and managing ML/DL models in production at scale
Deep understanding of CV & ML techniques (CNNs, Transformers, GANs, optimizers, regularization)
Strong knowledge of experiment design & best practices (A/B testing, feature engineering, pipelines)
Strong Python expertise
Extensive experience with scientific & ML libraries (NumPy, Pandas, PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit-Learn)
Strong data engineering skills with large-scale datasets
Experience with experiment automation tools (Ray Tune, Weights & Biases, Kubeflow)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
⭐ Preferred Qualifications
PhD in CS, ML, AI, Statistics, OR, or related field
Experience applying ML in retail or real-world business contexts
Familiarity with MLOps pipelines and tooling
Strong ownership mindset and impact orientation
