JOB OVERVIEW
As a NPD Procurement Coordinator (New Product Development Buyer), you will be responsible for leading sourcing activities for New Product Development initiatives across LATAM, ensuring cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and operational readiness for product launches.
You will act as the procurement focal point within cross-functional innovation teams, managing end-to-end sourcing strategy, supplier negotiations, risk mitigation, and alignment with global and regional category strategies.
This role requires strong project management capabilities, commercial acumen, stakeholder influence, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Partner with R&D, Marketing, Initiative Management, Planning, and Manufacturing to understand upcoming innovation pipelines (2–3 year horizon) and translate them into sourcing strategies, material requirements, and execution roadmaps.
Lead end-to-end procurement activities for NPD projects, from brief validation and supplier scouting to commercial negotiation, supplier nomination, and production handover.
Manage RFQs, cost breakdown analysis, supplier benchmarking, and negotiations aligned with Category Procurement strategy and financial targets.
Drive Design-to-Cost discussions with cross-functional teams, challenging specifications and proposing alternative materials, technical optimizations, and cost-saving opportunities.
Anticipate and mitigate supply risks, including tooling constraints, MOQ impacts, lead-time limitations, and supplier capacity risks.
Ensure pricing transparency, accurate forecasting inputs, and risk reporting prior to decision gates and launch approvals.
Track and report project savings, cost avoidance initiatives, and adherence to target cost objectives.
Act as escalation point for project-related supply disruptions until successful start of production (SOP).
Coordinate seamless transition from project phase to operational procurement and supply chain teams.
Influence stakeholders at managerial level, supporting data-driven decision-making and balancing commercial, technical, and timeline constraints.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field.
4–7 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain, preferably within FMCG, beauty, pharma, or consumer goods industries.
Proven experience managing sourcing projects linked to product launches or innovation pipelines.
Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated cost management results.
Solid understanding of cost structures, supplier economics, and total cost of ownership (TCO).
Advanced project management capabilities (PMO knowledge required).
Advanced Excel skills (cost modeling, scenario analysis); strong PowerPoint storytelling skills.
Experience with SAP, Ariba, or SRM systems is highly desirable.
Fluent English required; Spanish is a plus.
