Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Nearshore Database Administrator (DBA)
to provide senior?level operational and technical support for a large, complex enterprise database environment. This role will take primary ownership of SQL Server administration across production and non?production systems, with responsibility for performance optimization, availability, and stability of critical platforms.
The ideal candidate is a
mid to senior level DBA
who is comfortable working independently in a high?volume production environment, partnering closely with application teams, and serving as a technical escalation point for complex database issues. This role will also contribute to modernization, automation, and cloud initiatives while supporting ongoing acquisitions and integrations. Candidates should have a strong foundation in production database support and be capable of owning complex environments with minimal oversight.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary DBA supporting enterprise SQL Server environments through the ServiceNow ticketing system, owning complex and higg impact requests
Install, configure, and manage SQL Server instances across production and non?production environments, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices
Lead troubleshooting and resolution of advanced performance issues, including query tuning, blocking, deadlocks, and resource contention
Proactively monitor database health, performance, and capacity; identify and remediate risks before they impact production
Design and implement database maintenance strategies, including patching, backups, restores, and disaster recovery support
Manage database security, access controls, roles, and Active Directory integrations
Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and hardware refreshes with minimal downtime
Coordinate and deploy database changes, including after hours and weekend releases when required
Partner with application owners, developers, and infrastructure teams to plan maintenance windows and production changes
Support SQL Server workloads hosted in
AWS and Azure , including hybrid and cloud?native deployments
Provide guidance and limited support for legacy
Oracle
databases and Linux?based systems during ongoing migration efforts
Contribute to and help lead
automation initiatives
for database provisioning, deployments, and operational tasks
Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance as needed
Technical Environment
SQL Server (primary focus; 130+ instances, ~80 production)
AWS and Azure cloud platforms
Oracle databases (legacy, limited but ongoing support)
Linux (Oracle environments)
ServiceNow ticketing system
Enterprise Environment supporting frequent acquisitions and integrations
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands?on experience administering
SQL Server
in large, production?critical environments
Advanced proficiency with SQL Server Management Studio and performance troubleshooting tools
Proven experience with database migrations, upgrades, and production cutovers
Deep understanding of performance tuning, indexing strategies, capacity planning, and availability
Experience supporting databases in
AWS and/or Azure
environments
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and handle escalations in a fast?paced environment
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders
Comfort operating in a ticket?driven, enterprise support model
Nice to Have:
ServiceNow administration or advanced usage experience
Linux administration experience
Oracle database experience
Amazon Redshift or other data platform exposure
Scripting and automation experience (PowerShell, TSQL, or similar)
