Job Description
We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to serve as the primary link between the plant, suppliers, and regional/global SQ teams. This position plays a key role in ensuring supplier part quality, responding quickly to production issues, and leading containment, technical assessments, and corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Plant & Supplier Interface
Act as the main liaison between the plant, suppliers, and SQ Brazil/global teams.
Serve as first responder for supplier‑related production issues.
Perform initial triage, technical evaluations, and drive immediate containment.
Identify potential design‑related failures and engage Engineering as needed.
Support local and imported parts to ensure compliance with GM standards.
2. Supplier Quality & Problem Solving
Lead suppliers in robust problem‑solving methodologies.
Monitor and support APQP, PPAP, 8D, Redex, Poka‑Yoke, and GM quality systems.
Facilitate rapid root‑cause identification and implementation of corrective actions.
3. Plant Support & Governance
Manage daily/weekly field quality issues that may impact production.
Coordinate calls for containment breakpoints and certified shipments.
Collaborate with Engineering on disposition of vehicles with suspect material.
Support on‑site root‑cause analysis at GM manufacturing facilities.
Review SPPS submissions for compliance with GM 1927‑17.
Serve as SQ subject‑matter expert for plant Quality Engineering leadership.
Monitor controlled‑shipping requests and provide approvals.
4. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Attend Pre‑CPIT, PRTS, CPIT and platform forums.
Lead actions requested by CPIT, Platform Engineering, Manufacturing Quality, and PPM.
Join post‑CPIT warranty deep‑dives for top vehicle issues.
Serve as the single point of contact for SQ issues affecting production.
Coordinate containment for SQ‑assigned CDP 24‑hour issues.
Support part‑return processes for Engineering Investigations (EIs).
5. Continuous Monitoring
Review warranty data to identify emerging quality trends.
Work with SMT and supplier SQ teams on containment, root cause, and corrective actions.
Join ad‑hoc calls for issues without a defined owner.
Maintain reporting routines and provide timely updates to leadership.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Active CREA registration (Brazil).
Active CNH
Advanced English.
Experience in Supplier Quality / EQF.
Strong background in supplier quality processes.
Proficiency with: APQP, PPAP, 8D, Poka‑Yoke, Redex

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location on a full-time basis.
The selected candidate will be required to travel at least 50% or more on a frequent basis.
This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
