Database Specialist

QAT Global, a 30+ year IT consulting firm based in the US, is seeking a highly skilled Database Schema Specialist with strong English communication skills. This position will work directly with the customer located in the US and with development teams in our US, Costa Rica, and Brazil locations.

This opportunity can be 100% remote We are looking for a Database Schema Specialist to design and scale a high-volume analytical database on Aurora PostgreSQL (AWS). This role is part of a Unified Reporting Platform, where a Kafka Streams pipeline delivers enriched, denormalized data to a reporting database consumed via self-service APIs. Responsibilities Design and implement production-grade schemas (star schema: facts & dimensions) Implement monthly partitioning strategies for large datasets Define and optimize index strategies (B-tree, BRIN) Develop and manage database migrations (Flyway) Configure and tune connection pooling (PgBouncer or similar) Ensure performance and scalability for 10x data growth Tech Environment Aurora PostgreSQL 14.X AWS (Aurora, ECS Fargate) Kafka Streams (data ingestion) Spring Boot (API layer) Requirements Strong experience with PostgreSQL in production Hands-on experience with Aurora PostgreSQL Solid understanding of data modeling (star schema) Experience with table partitioning and performance tuning Experience with database migrations (Flyway or similar) Nice to Have DBA experience Experience with AWS (Aurora, ECS/Fargate) Experience with connection pooling tools (PgBouncer) What We Value Ability to design for scale and performance Strong ownership of production systems Practical experience (not only theoretical knowledge) If you have experience designing high-performance analytical databases at scale, we would like to hear from you.
