The
Project Manager
in our cybersecurity/IT services division will lead the planning and execution of complex technology projects, ensuring they are delivered
on time, within scope, and within budget . This role acts as a bridge between technical teams (network/security engineers, developers, analysts) and business stakeholders. The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating cross-functional efforts in a dynamic environment, often managing
multiple projects
or client engagements simultaneously, aligning them with strategic goals and the latest industry practices (e.g.,
Agile methodology, cloud deployments, security compliance ).
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning & Execution:
Define project
scope, objectives, and deliverables
for cybersecurity and IT infrastructure projects. Develop detailed project plans with timelines, milestones, and resource allocation. Manage the full project lifecycle from initiation to closure, adapting to changing requirements or priorities.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Lead cross-functional teams (security engineers, IT staff, developers, client representatives) to ensure collaboration and timely task completion. Assign responsibilities, oversee day-to-day project activities, and maintain team motivation and productivity in both on-site and
remote/hybrid work environments .
Budget & Risk Management:
Manage project budgets and control costs. Identify and mitigate risks and issues proactively; implement contingency plans to address potential project roadblocks or security concerns. Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards and regulations (e.g., data privacy laws, security policies) throughout project execution.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders. Provide regular project status updates, performance metrics, and risk assessments to clients, senior management, and team members. Facilitate meetings, gather feedback, and manage expectations to maintain alignment with project goals and client needs.
Quality Assurance & Delivery:
Ensure project deliverables meet the required quality and security standards. Coordinate testing, user acceptance, and security reviews on project outputs (e.g., new system implementations, policy rollouts). Oversee documentation (project plans, reports, compliance evidence) and obtain stakeholder sign-offs.
Post-Project Support & Continuous Improvement:
Oversee transition of completed projects to operational teams. Conduct post-mortems and lessons-learned sessions to identify improvement opportunities. Stay informed on emerging
industry trends
(like
AI integration in project management ,
DevSecOps , and new
collaboration tools ) to continually enhance project management practices.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Professional Knowledge:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business (or related field). Strong understanding of
IT systems, networks, and cybersecurity fundamentals
to effectively communicate with technical teams and align projects with security best practices.
Project Management Skills:
Proven ability to manage complex IT or security projects using
project management methodologies
(Waterfall and Agile). Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, or Trello) for planning, tracking, and reporting. Skilled in developing project documentation and managing project scope changes.
Leadership & Communication:
Excellent leadership and organizational skills. Demonstrated experience coordinating
cross-functional teams , managing resources, and resolving conflicts. Exceptional communication skills to interface with diverse stakeholders and present project updates in a clear, concise manner.
Analytical & Problem-Solving:
Strong risk assessment, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Capacity to anticipate challenges, craft mitigation strategies, and adapt to evolving project needs. Must be detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture to ensure projects deliver strategic value.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced Knowledge:
Familiarity with
cybersecurity frameworks
(e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001) and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) to integrate compliance into project plans. Understanding of modern IT trends such as
cloud computing projects, digital transformation , or
AI-driven solutions
is a plus.
Industry Experience:
Prior experience in an
IT services or consulting environment , managing projects for external clients or within large enterprise settings. Background in
network/security infrastructure projects
or software development projects is advantageous.
Methodologies:
Certifications or hands-on experience with
Agile/Scrum
methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) or
DevOps/DevSecOps
practices.
Experience Requirements:
Experience:
7+ years
of experience in project management within the IT or cybersecurity domain. This should include successfully managing
multiple full project lifecycles , with at least several projects related to
IT security, networking, or software/IT infrastructure . Leadership experience in a matrixed or cross-functional team environment is essential.
Certifications:
Project Management Certifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP)
or
PRINCE2
(highly preferred / required) as evidence of formal project management training and expertise.
Security/Technical Certifications:
Certifications such as
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) ,
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) , or
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
are a plus, signifying an understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance.
Agile/Other Certs:
Additional certifications like
Certified Scrum Master (CSM)
or
ITIL Foundation
are beneficial and reflect a commitment to industry best practices.
