About The Role The Executive Director, Health Service Interface & Collaboration, leads strategic coordination across policy, commissioning and funding, working with health services to support their effective operational decision-making. By fostering robust cross‑sector collaboration, the role ensures alignment between clinical, policy, and operational priorities, supporting the effective implementation of system reforms. The Executive Director partners with internal and external stakeholders to ensure policy, commissioning, and funding and operational decisions are co‑ordinated, with resources best used to improve outcomes for Victorians.

Reporting directly to the Deputy Secretary, this position manages three key director‑led units: Interface, Collaboration and Maternity; Interface Collaboration and Commissioning; and Governance Reform and Collaboration. Each unit plays a critical role in driving collaborative approaches, supporting system‑wide initiatives, and ensuring that governance structures are strengthened. The Executive Director provides leadership and direction to these teams, ensuring their efforts are coordinated and aligned to organisational objectives and the health system.

The Executive Director is instrumental in advancing the Department of Health's commitment to collaboration and improvement within the health system. Working towards stronger governance and improved outcomes for all Victorians, the Executive Director champions effective engagement across divisions and the sector, enabling informed decision‑making and supporting the delivery of safe, high‑quality care. Through collaborative leadership, the role contributes towards the Department's goal of making Victorian's the healthiest people in the world.

The Executive Director may also be required to support other teams across the Branch, including participation in out‑of‑hours rosters, emergency response communications, large‑scale campaigns, and other high‑priority projects.

About You We are looking for someone who has:

A high degree of understanding and knowledge of the Victorian health system, relevant departmental systems and environments and the ability to build increased capability in others.

Exceptional advisory, negotiation, communication and relationship building skills, with demonstrated capacity to work effectively within a politically sensitive context.

Strong political acumen and tactical awareness.

Knowledge of contemporary approaches to health system demand and capacity management and response, and its role in the wider context of government policy and reform priorities.

A tertiary qualification in fields related to health, business and/or management (desirable).
