Job Description
Brisbane | Equity on Offer | AI-First Platform | M&A at Scale
This is not a traditional CFO role.
Valont is building one of Australia’s most ambitious, AI-first professional services platforms, bringing together accounting, finance, legal, HR, IT, marketing and advisory servicesto help SME businesses reach their full potential — and we’re looking for a commercial, strategic CFO to help architect the next phase of growth.
About Valont
Valont is redefining how SMEs work with accounting, finance, legal, HR, IT and advisory services, not as individual services but as a fully integrated service offering providing real-time advisory and insights 24/7.
We’re part of Wattlestone, a Brisbane-based private investment firm, and we follow a buy-build-hold strategy:
Integrate them onto our proprietary AI operating platform
Scale advisory, automation and insight — fast and intelligently
To build one of Australia’s most valuable next-generation professional services groups, underpinned by strong unit economics, disciplined capital allocation and real-time financial intelligence.
The Opportunity
This is a foundational CFO role, reporting directly to the CEO. You’ll operate as:
A strategic partner to the CEO and leadership team
A commercial leader across the Valont group
The architect of our financial operating system
A key driver of M&A execution, integration and value creation
This goes well beyond statutory finance. You’ll help design how Valont scales — financially, operationally and strategically.
What Success Looks Like (12–18 months)
A group-wide financial operating system that scales seamlessly across acquisitions
Real-time, insight-driven reporting for leadership, boards and investors
Strong capital discipline embedded across every growth initiative
Multiple acquisitions led from diligence through integration
Finance transformed from a function into a value-creation engine
Who We’re Looking For:
10–15+ years in senior finance / CFO roles
Experience in high-growth, PE-backed, startup or scale-up environments
Strong exposure to M&A, multi-entity groups and commercial finance
Confidence partnering with founders, boards and investors
Commercially sharp (not just technically strong)
Comfortable with ambiguity and building from first principles
Data-driven, systems-oriented and forward-looking
Excited by AI, automation and re-imagining how finance works
Low ego, high energy, and motivated by building something enduring
Why Join Valont?
Direct exposure to strategy, M&A and enterprise value creation
Competitive remuneration plus equity participation
Work with ambitious, commercially minded leaders
