The Role
The Director, Growth Infrastructure Coordination Unit (GICU) is responsible for leading and coordinating a whole-of-government approach to the development and administration of Infrastructure Schemes across multiple growth areas. This includes coordinating infrastructure and service requirements within Greater Adelaide to support the sustainable supply of housing in line with the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan.
The Director, GICU will lead a technically diverse team of professionals to deliver infrastructure planning solutions through an Integrated Growth Planning framework. This ensures that infrastructure planning is embedded in current and future corridor and structure planning, forming the foundation for future Infrastructure Schemes.
You Will Hold The Following Responsibilities
Establish and lead South Australiaโs first dedicated Infrastructure Scheme delivery team.
Coordinate a whole-of-government approach to the development and implementation of Infrastructure Schemes across multiple growth areas.
Establish and operationalise South Australiaโs first Infrastructure Scheme, while implementing additional schemes across multiple growth areas.
Oversee administration of Infrastructure Schemes, ensuring alignment with existing or proposed Deeds and other growth-related agreements between stakeholders.
Develop and implement infrastructure strategies to support regional, corridor, and structure planning.
Directly assist, support and advise the Minister and Executive Leadership team on all planning and development.
About You
To be successful in this position, you must be able to demonstrate experience across the following key capabilities:
Extensive knowledge and experience in coordinating infrastructure using beneficiary-pays mechanisms, including Infrastructure Schemes, Deeds, and Separate Rates.
Demonstrated expertise in leading technical investigations for greenfield growth areas, with a particular focus on stormwater and traffic assessments.
Comprehensive understanding of planning systems, including statutory planning frameworks, relevant legislation, and local government planning practices related to greenfield development.
Proven ability to negotiate and influence a wide range of stakeholders and decisionโmakers, including senior leaders in the public (state and local) and private sectors.
Desirable Qualification
A recognised degree or post graduate qualification that supports the relevant discipline of planning and development.
Special Conditions
Successful applicants may be required to obtain a satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check or National Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will be required every 3 years.
