Lead Engineer (Primary Assets)
We’re entering an exciting phase of growth, and we’re looking for a
Lead Engineer (Primary Assets)
to help us lead the way.
As the Lead Engineer (Primary Assets), this role will see you demonstrate technical leadership in the Asset Management team within AusNet’s Transmission business, championing work programs and initiatives, guiding and leading others in the team to achieve outcomes. Utilising your extensive technical knowledge, you will deliver sound technical support to ensure the optimisation of assets while maintaining network performance and the long‑term viability of our networks.
This hybrid role (Office/WFH) is based in
Southbank, Melbourne
and sits within our
Transmission Asset Management
team.
Responsibilities
Provide technical, economic & strategic advice to Asset Management as required
Provide technical and engineering guidance on Primary Assets (particularly power transformers) to support other areas of the business
Lead the development of Asset Management Primary Asset strategies and work plans (CAPEX and OPEX) aligned with budgets and corporate planning horizons
Provide technical leadership in the management of Station Primary Asset risks and compliance
Perform condition and risk assessments of Primary Assets and prepare regulatory submissions for Primary Assets classes
Lead the delivery of Primary Asset refurbishment and renewal business cases and RITs
Lead the development and maintenance of Primary asset specifications
Lead the creation and revision of inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance strategies for Primary Assets and budget justification
Provide specialist guidance to field engineering groups for network incidents and assist in investigations and reporting of Primary Assets incidents, failures and defects
Represent AusNet with external regulators as required for Primary Assets
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Engineering
Demonstrated 10+ years of engineering/asset management experience
Deep understanding of Asset Management leading practices, frameworks and relevant standards
Deep understanding of relevant Australian and International standards and industry codes of practice for Primary Assets
Ability to lead and coordinate failure and incident investigations for Primary Assets
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing strategic asset management plans, preferably in a regulated environment
In‑depth knowledge of equipment, technologies, with a focus on Primary Assets and emerging trends and innovations
Knowledge of relevant condition monitoring and assessment techniques for Primary Assets
Strong analytical skills and the ability to leverage data‑driven insights to inform decision‑making and optimise asset performance
