The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) is the leading standards body responsible for the training and education of specialists and GP obstetricians in obstetrics and gynaecology in Australia and New Zealand.
RANZCOG is committed to the establishment and maintenance of the highest possible standards of practice in women's health and provides programmes in training, accreditation and continuing professional development (CPD) that are responsive to the evolving health care needs of women.
RANZCOG supports research into women's health and acts as an advocate for women's healthcare by forging productive relationships with individuals, the community and professional organisations, both locally and internationally.
The Opportunity
The Head of Women's Health, Research & Policy role is responsible for leading the College's research, policy, and women's health strategy across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across guideline development, evidence translation, First Nations health, Global Health, consumer engagement, quality improvement, and health equity initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the development, review, and dissemination of evidence-based clinical guidelines in key areas of women's health.
Ensure the accuracy and accessibility of patient information resources, including health information pamphlets and women's health content on the College website.
Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to women's health to strengthen RANZCOG's position as a trusted authority in clinical standards, health policy, and research.
Provide leadership and oversight of culturally safe, co-designed initiatives that improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clinicians, women, babies, families, and communities, in alignment with the College's Reconciliation Action Plan.
Lead and oversee the development and implementation of a consumer engagement framework to support meaningful involvement of women, families, and community representatives in College activities and decision making.
Maintain current knowledge of government policy developments in Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand, and relevant international bodies that may impact the College's women's health activities.
Oversee the coordination and governance of committees and project groups associated with the Women's Health, Research & Policy team.
Lead development of funding proposals, financial planning and project oversight for activities, programmes, and other initiatives delivered through the Global Health Unit and related Asia-Pacific programmes.
Provide leadership to staff, including development of KPIs, performance management, mentoring and professional development for employees.
Some interstate and international travel will be required for this position.
Key Selection Criteria
A post-graduate tertiary qualification in public health, health policy, medical or social sciences, public administration, or related discipline.
Demonstrated senior leadership experience in women's health, public health, research, policy, or a related sector, with responsibility for delivering complex programmes, guidelines, or clinical standards at a national level.
Proven experience in the development, review, and dissemination of evidence-based clinical guidelines, policies, or standards, preferably within a regulated or health-sector environment.
Highly developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with government, clinicians, consumers, professional bodies, and external partners.
Demonstrated ability to lead culturally safe, co-designed initiatives in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Strong policy awareness and the ability to interpret and respond to government reforms, health system changes, and regulatory requirements across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop high-performing teams, and to build effective relationships with senior stakeholders and external partners.
Desirable
An understanding of the medical or health sector in Australia and / or Aotearoa New Zealand.
Experience working in a membership-based or regulated health organisation.
Experience in working with committees.
Experience in working with volunteers.
