Position Overview
Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Affairs and Engagement, the Head of Government Relations is responsible for the coordination and strategic management of the University’s engagement with government, parliament and key public sector stakeholders. The Office operates within the Vice-Chancellor’s portfolio and works closely with the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, University Executive, Colleges, and professional portfolios.
The Head of Government Relations provides strategic leadership of the University’s engagement with Federal, State and Territory Governments and the Parliament, with a particular focus on elected representatives, Ministers, advisers, senior officials, and parliamentary processes. The role is critical to advancing the University's strategic interests, managing institutional risk, supporting reputation rebuild, and ensuring the University meets its obligations for transparency, accuracy, and integrity in parliamentary and government engagement.
This includes leadership of the University’s approach to Senate Estimates, parliamentary inquiries, advocacy, policy intelligence, and high-level relationship management, ensuring a coordinated, consistent, and trusted institutional presence.
