Data Architect - Exclaim IT

A Principal Data Architect is required to lead the design and implementation of a central enterprise data capability within a large Queensland Government department. You will unify data architecture, governance, engineering and business intelligence into a coordinated service model. The role shapes enterprise data strategy, ensures reliable analytics, and positions data as a strategic asset across the department. You will operate with high autonomy and influence enterprise-wide standards to address fragmented systems, duplicated processes and inconsistent data practices. Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the target state enterprise data architecture aligned to ICT strategy and government frameworks Map business capabilities, processes and data flows to inform architecture design Review current systems and define current state architecture Design scalable data models, standards and integration principles across platforms including Azure, Dynamics 365 and ArcGIS Establish and guide a core Azure based data platform with enterprise BI capability Implement governance frameworks covering quality, metadata, privacy and security Monitor enterprise data demand and reduce duplication across divisions Provide high level solution design and requirements to support delivery partners Review and validate detailed technical designs for compliance with architecture and security standards Prepare architecture documentation and handover materials Mentor staff and lead data and analytics community of practice initiatives Represent data interests in governance forums and stakeholder workshops Highly desirable criteria

Extensive experience leading enterprise data architecture in complex organisations Strong technical expertise across Azure, SQL, ETL, Power BI, Dynamics 365 and ArcGIS Proven ability to design integrated enterprise data platforms Experience implementing whole of department data governance frameworks Strong stakeholder engagement across executive and technical audiences Relevant certifications such as Azure or TOGAF Experience working within Queensland Government ICT frameworks Experience establishing enterprise data platforms from initial design phase Skills and experience
