General Manager - Child Care & Early Learning
About the Role
A growing multi-site early learning organisation is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead operations across multiple centres in Victoria. This is a senior leadership role with Operations Managers reporting directly into the position. The role is responsible for strategic leadership, regulatory engagement, and driving sustainable business growth while maintaining high-quality education and care outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strong, visible leadership across the organisation
Lead and manage Operations Managers, driving performance and accountability
Act as the primary point of contact with the Department of Education and regulatory bodies
Ensure compliance with the National Quality Framework, National Quality Standards, and state regulations
Drive business growth, strategic planning, and new centre development
Oversee operational performance, financial sustainability, and occupancy growth
Develop and implement scalable policies, systems, and governance frameworks
Build a high-performance culture focused on quality, leadership, and accountability
Manage risk, compliance, and critical incident response
Partner with ownership and senior stakeholders on long-term strategy and expansion
About You
Proven experience in a General Manager, Operations Manager, or senior leadership role within Early Childhood or a comparable multi-site environment
Strong experience dealing directly with the Department of Education and regulatory authorities
Demonstrated success in growing and leading a multi-site organisation
Deep understanding of compliance, governance, and quality frameworks
Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Strong commercial and operational acumen
Ability to lead through change and scale operations
Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred
Valid Working With Children Check
