Senior Consultant- ESG & Sustainability , you will join the
BPB ESG & Climate Management
Team in
Melbourne
that’s doubling down on customer obsession.
We’re looking for an experienced ESG Risk & Sustainability professional who’s passionate about creating meaningful change. In this role, you’ll influence how our business identifies and manages ESG risks and opportunities, supporting bankers with expert advice to deliver great customer outcomes that help shape the sustainability journey for thousands of Australian businesses. What you’ll do
Lead and deliver ESG risk assessments and escalations with accuracy, pace, and strong commercial acumen.
Identify emerging ESG risks, regulatory changes, and industry trends—translating complex information into clear, practical insights for bankers and leaders.
Support frontline teams by providing actionable ESG Risk guidance, tools and training that build capability and confidence.
Collaborate with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Product, Strategy, Data, and other partners to uplift ESG Risk frameworks, governance, and end‑to‑end processes.
Prepare high‑quality written materials, analysis and presentations for senior leaders, forums, and decision‑making committees.
Lead delivery of strategic initiatives across climate transition, modern slavery, human rights, nature‑related risk, and other emerging sustainability themes.
Drive continuous improvement in how B&PB identifies, manages, and responds to ESG risks and opportunities.
Build strong, trusted relationships across the division to help embed sustainability into everyday customer engagement and business decision‑making.
What we’re looking for
Solid expertise in ESG and Sustainability issues, including climate risk, human rights, modern slavery, nature‑related impacts and regulatory expectations.
Experience working in ESG Risk, sustainability, risk management or consulting within financial services or a similar corporate environment.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex ESG information, derive insights and communicate these clearly.
Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to think strategically about business opportunities, risks, and value creation.
Proven project management skills—able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality work.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and explain ESG Risk concepts to non‑experts.
Confidence engaging with senior leaders and cross‑functional stakeholders, building trusted relationships that drive alignment and action.
A proactive, curious mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environment, Sustainability, Business, Finance, Law, Science, or a related discipline (ESG specific learning and direct experience is highly regarded).
