The Project

We are seeking an experienced

Senior Technical Consultant

to provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for a major ICT transformation program within a large and complex government environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring security, reliability, and operational excellence across enterprise technology platforms.

The location for this role is in the Perth CBD however a hybrid arrangement of 3 days in the office, 2 WFH can be arranged.

The initial engagement will be for 4 months however there is scope for extensions beyond this.

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior oversight of solution designs and security controls, ensuring alignment with program objectives, standards, and audit requirements.

Lead coordination across technical, service, and delivery teams to support effective change, incident, and deployment management.

Act as the primary technical interface between security, infrastructure, and stakeholder groups, ensuring clear understanding of impacts and requirements.

Ensure architectural, technical, and operational alignment across interconnected security and infrastructure domains.

Oversee vendor and managed service provider performance, ensuring deliverables meet technical, operational, and compliance expectations.

Support operational readiness and long‑term sustainment, including process development, documentation, and transition into business‑as‑usual environments.

Skills & Experience Required

Proven leadership of large‑scale security programs within complex, high‑risk, or regulated environments.

Strong security architecture and governance expertise, including controls such as segmentation, NAC, firewalls, identity, and monitoring.

Demonstrated ability to align technical designs with audit outcomes, standards, and industry best‑practice frameworks (e.g., Essential Eight, ISO 27001, NIST CSF).

Strategic planning and enterprise risk management capability, with confident, authoritative decision‑making.

Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including working with executives, vendors, and operational teams.

Experience operationalising complex solutions and managing multi‑vendor environments, including change/incident management, documentation, and contract/performance oversight.
