Cyber Security Engineer (System Security Level 3 – NV1 Required) Russell Offices, Canberra (Preferred) or Defence Plaza Melbourne

Azooa is currently preparing a response to

RFQ 2026-121-LC4S-LC4S-RFQ (LC4S KEY041 – L4140 Cyber Engineer)

in support of the

Land 4140 Project

within the

Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), Department of Defence .

We are seeking an experienced

Cyber Security Engineer (Systems & Software Engineering – System Security Level 3)

to provide specialist security engineering advice across the

Land C4 capability uplift program .

This is a strategic opportunity to contribute to a nationally significant Defence capability program operating at scale and complexity.

The Role – Cyber Security Engineer (L3 – System Security) Project:

Land 4140 – LC4S

Engagement:

1.0 FTE

Location:

Russell Offices, Canberra (preferred) or Defence Plaza Melbourne

You will provide accurate, contemporary and authoritative cyber security subject matter expertise to:

CASG and Army engineering teams

This role operates with considerable independence across a

complex, long-term, iterative and interconnected integration program , supporting uplift and cyber security of the

Land C4 Capability System , including:

Integrated Battlefield Telecommunications Network (I-BTN)

Tactical Communications Network (TCN)

You will directly contribute to:

Cyber worthiness outcomes

Authority to Operate (ATO) achievement

Engineering governance and integration

Strategic capability planning

You will:

Support Cyber Security Operations and Cyber Worthiness requirements

Support Cyber Assessment and Authorisation activities to achieve ATO

Develop and review key security artefacts, including: Cyber Security Management Plans

Security Threat Risk Assessments (STRA)

Business Impact Level (BIL) Assessments

Review DISP controls and accreditation for Project Integration Partners and Delivery Panellists

✔️ Conduct security certification and accreditation activities

This role requires structured documentation discipline and deep understanding of Defence security frameworks.

Provide specialist security advice across all stages of the capability life cycle

Support requirements analysis and specification development

Contribute to system and subsystem design and interface descriptions

Review contract deliverables for compliance and security integrity

Oversee activities conducted by the Program Integration Partner

Align with LC4SB PgMO Cyber Security Cell governance frameworks

A strong understanding of

INCOSE Systems Engineering processes

is essential.

You will operate across multiple stakeholders within a highly integrated Defence program.

Responsibilities include:

Collaborating across CASG, Army and industry partners

Contributing to project planning and milestone establishment

Providing advice on standards, tools, methods and regulatory compliance

Ensuring sustainment and integration activities align with legislative and policy frameworks

Exercising sound judgement within complex, multi-stakeholder environments

To be considered, you must demonstrate:

Australian Government

NV1 security clearance (mandatory)

Undergraduate 4-year Engineering Degree in a related discipline

Ability to provide specialist security advice across the full capability life cycle

Strong understanding of military and operational environments

Clear understanding of INCOSE Systems Engineering processes

Ability to manage complex technical activities under broad direction

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work onsite minimum 3 days per week

Highly Desirable Experience

Industry-recognised ICT or Cyber accreditations

Understanding of Zero Trust network architectures

Understanding of Data-Centric security architectures

Experience implementing Cyber Governance, Risk and Compliance in a Defence context

Experience as a System, Security or Solutions Architect
