About the role
Plenti is seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join our high-performing Legal & Compliance team. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting our business units across a diverse range of legal and regulatory matters. Working alongside some of the brightest minds in fintech, you’ll thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where professional growth is actively supported. Key Responsibilities
Legal & Compliance Advisory
Provide pragmatic legal and compliance advice to business units on day-to-day and strategic matters
Respond to ad-hoc requests, draft policies and procedures, and manage borrower, investor and shareholder complaints and disputes
Review promotional and marketing materials for legal and regulatory compliance
New Products & Innovation
Advise on legal and regulatory implications of new products, services and features
Partner with product and project teams to deliver compliant, customer-focused solutions
Contracts & Agreements
Draft and review agreements with referral partners, funders, commercial partners and service providers
Draft and maintain standard contract templates for consumer (regulated and unregulated) and commercial borrowers
Corporate Governance
Assist with reporting to senior management and key stakeholders
Provide corporate governance support to the General Counsel and Company Secretary
Risk & Compliance
Support the business in meeting legal and regulatory obligations, including investigating potential incidents
Prepare and deliver compliance training across the organisation
Regulatory Change
Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments impacting financial services
Help Plenti proactively prepare for industry and regulatory change
What we’re looking for
Law degree and admission to practice in NSW or another Australian jurisdiction
3–8 years’ post-qualification experience
Experience advising on financial services regulation, including the Corporations Act, consumer credit, and banking & finance
Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, technically strong legal advice across a range of matters
Strong interest in financial services and fintech, with an understanding of the commercial realities of the sector
A customer-centric mindset with a focus on empathy, efficiency and commercial outcomes
