Job Description
Overview
A leading firm is seeking a junior lawyer (Graduate level to 1 year PQE) to join its highly regarded construction disputes practice in Melbourne.
This firm is widely recognised for advising on complex, high-stakes matters that sit at the intersection of law, strategy and reputation. With a selective practice model, it focuses on excellence rather than volume, offering lawyers exposure to genuinely interesting and challenging work early in their careers.
The practice
The construction disputes team acts on some of the most significant and complex disputes in the market, including:
Major construction and infrastructure disputes
Claims arising from delay, defects, variations and termination
Disputes involving developers, contractors, consultants and principals
High-value, technically complex matters often running in parallel with broader commercial issues
Lawyers work closely with senior partners and directly with clients, gaining early responsibility and exposure across the full lifecycle of disputes
The role
This is a rare opportunity for a graduate or junior lawyer to build a strong foundation in construction disputes within a top-tier environment. You will be closely supported by senior lawyers and partners, encouraged to develop strong technical skills, and given early exposure to complex matters and strategic thinking.
Graduates will complete fully supported Practical Legal Training (PLT) alongside a structured, partner-led in-house graduate program. The training is designed to provide hands-on experience, practical skills and exposure across practice areas, aligned with the firm’s “generalist specialist” philosophy.
About you
You will likely have:
Recently completed your law degree or up to 1 year PQE in litigation, construction, or commercial disputes
Strong analytical, drafting and communication skills
The ability to identify key legal and commercial issues with guidance and supervision
Sound judgment and a proactive, outcome-focused mindset
The ability to work well in a close-knit, high-performing team
A genuine commitment to learning, professional development and high-quality work
What’s on offer
Highly competitive remuneration
Structured training, mentoring and professional development
Fully subsidised corporate gym membership and wellness program
In-house, fully subsidised café
Complimentary legal services for wills and estate planning
Health and financial services discounts
