Organisation Teaching Service

Position Information Young High School is a rural comprehensive high school approximately four hours southwest of Sydney and two hours from Canberra and Wagga Wagga and proudly located on the land of the Wiradjuri people. The school has an enrolment of 508 students from a growing diversity of cultural backgrounds, including 18% Aboriginal students and 5% language backgrounds other than English. In addition, five support classes, provide an inclusive and supportive environment for students with additional needs.

The school is committed to creating an optimal learning environment, based on a vision for continuous improvement and goals for our students, through shifts in thinking and a focus on innovative pedagogy.

The school works closely with the local community, local schools and the Temora Principal Network.

Young High School staff engage students through varied curriculum choices which meet academic, vocational (VET and TVET and School to Work), sporting, social and wellbeing needs of all students.

Specific Selection Criteria

Ability to drive high expectation for all studentswith a focus on curriculum, explicit teaching, differentiation and high potential

Demonstrated capacity to implement the school’s shared vision and plan in partnership with the local community while being dynamic and responsive to achieve results

Demonstrated capacity to lead evidence-informed wellbeing initiatives for all students to succeed in learning, transition points and post school pathways

Demonstrated capacity to develop authentic relationships with the whole school and wider community through a visible and collaborative leadership style that ensures a positive school culture that is valued and trusted within the community

General Selection Criteria

High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis.The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P3 for 2026.
