Head of Engineering

I’m partnering with a leading organisation in the T&D sector to appoint a Head of Project Engineering; a key executive role overseeing the engineering governance, technical strategy, and delivery performance across a portfolio of state‑critical transmission projects.

As the organisation continues to expand its network to enable renewable energy, interconnection, and storage integration, this position will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are engineered safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards.

The Opportunity As the Head of Project Engineering, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering function responsible for:

Providing technical leadership across HV transmission projects (substations, overhead lines, underground cables and network augmentation).

Overseeing project engineering governance, ensuring design quality, compliance, risk management, and assurance.

Guiding project development from concept through commissioning, including standards, design reviews, and strategic engineering decisions.

Leading and developing a high‑performing team of engineering managers, discipline leads, and specialists.

Acting as a senior technical advisor for major capital programs linked to the energy transition, renewable connections, and system security.

Working closely with delivery, system planning, and executive leadership to drive best‑practice engineering outcomes.

About You You will thrive in this role if you bring:

Extensive experience in HV transmission engineering within utilities, consultancies, or EPCs.

Strong leadership of multi‑discipline engineering teams across large, complex capital projects.

Deep understanding of design assurance, project governance, safety in design, and technical risk.
